So What Happened?

THANKS LADIES! i found some gripe water in my town! Thanks! But I have found that just plain old peppermint water works the best! I took a peppermint candy disc and crushed it up and dissolved it in water and let it cool and she loved it! Working for now! Thanks again!

My son had colic for the first 6 months of his life and Mylicon was a life saver. It's expensive, but the symethicone really works!! Good luck!

Baby Bliss Gripe Water - it is the BEST. And a more natural option. Good luck.

My son was gassy. I used the Mylicon drops but they didn't always work either.

I used to lay him in my lap with he legs facing me and slowly push his knees towards his stomach. I would do this while calmly talking to him until he would release his gas. Sometimes it would be a short period of time, sometimes it would take a long time...But the calming talk and the constant movement kept him calmer...

Good Luck... ;-)

you can lay her tummy down on your lap and roll her back and foward. You can also lay
her on her back and peddle her legs like a bicycle. For some reason exercise helps with gas I guess it helps to move the gas. Another thing you can do is rub her tummy counter clockwise for 10 rotations them gently press her knees to her tummy. Repeat as often as needed.
Hope this helps. ;-)

I have given both of my babies very diluted chamomile tea. It seemed to really help. Also pumping the legs by bring the knees up toward the chest and then down over and over helps work out the gas. You can hear the gas expel after a few pumps sometimes. Sometimes it takes a little longer. Once the gas starts to come out, my babies relaxed and let me continue pumping. As they relaxed it came out more and more on the their own. Also lots of tummy time helps. As they move, it helps move the gas along the digestive track and the pressure on the stomach from the floor helps to expel it.

Are you breast feeding? My doctor told me that my daughter was not staying latched on long enough to get the hind mild which has all the fat in it. She was only getting the for-milk which has all the sugar. Too much starchy sugar breaks down differently in the gut and can cause gassiness. That is why beans make us gassy. I ended up pumping each side a little before she nursed so that she got more of the fatty milk. My oldest daughter also was gassy too and she ended up being lactose intolerant. We changed her diet around and she is doing much better. Hope this helps.

If you're breastfeeding, you might consider looking at your own diet. With my first, she had very painful gas and we realized she was having trouble digesting the proteins in cow's milk. I took milk and soft cheese out of my diet and the problem went away.

I have 4 children as well and my parents were fosters to many - we used gripe water instead of gas drops. Although you can never od a baby on simethicone (the active ingredient in gas drops) and they do work the gripe water works much better and is natural. But it is not just any gripe water- it is Woodwards gripe water. It is made in England but you can get it here. With my first 3 I had to get my dad to mail it to me from Nashville. With my last baby (10 mos.) I found it here in SA. If you are local there is a little international market at 410 and starcrest on the eastbound feeder. It is small and older but the owner is fantastic and the people who work there are sooo kind. He carries it. It is wrapped in dark blue paper and is in a glass bottle. Smells like peppermint and works like a charm!!! If you are not in SA look on line for local international stores and try to find it. If you are interested and need me to I will mail some to you. Just email me @____@____.com Luck!!!

My daughter was the same way. We began using chamomile tea as per my sister's advice. It helped a lot. Any tea really does help some though. But, it was chamomile tea that was recommended for that.

We would use the H-E-B brand, and it really helped.

Good Luck. I know how frustrating this can be.

My 3rd was 6 yrs from the 2nd & turned out to be lactose intolerant. I was doing a combo of breast feeding & formula with him when he was diagnosed. I became lactose intolerant around 12 yrs old so I didn't expect it yet.

Hi M.,
Often gas indicates Ani is ingesting something that disagrees with her. If she is on food, withdraw all but one. Every third day change the food you give her unti you find the offending food.
It she is on a milk formula, try a different one. If you are breast feeding you already know that she will react if you eat certain foods so you know not to eat that.
Congrats on your little girl.

Hi M.,

You might try to get the baby some Baby Probiotics, some Baby Calcium, and a Baby Mineral supplement. You can also give them some herbal peppermint tea with raw pure honey to help soothe the mucus membranes and help with proper elimination.
