Musical chairs is fun for all ages - we even did it at my 40th birthday for adults and it was hilarious!
My daughter is turning 2yrs old and I want to play some games at her party. I will have kids there in age range from 2 to 12...Any ideas for something that all age ranges can play?
The only games I thought of so far is pin the tail, and hot potatoe and spoon up cotton balls blindfolded...Thanks

You are still talking 2 yrs old, right?
Are the other kids the same age? 2 ?
Seriously, could you teach your 2 yr old to play pin the tail on the donkey?
Now imagine having 10 more 2 yrs olds doing that.
When you blind fold a 2 yr old do you have any idea what they will do? Their immediate reaction will be to take their hand and pull the blind fold off. Following instructions is not their strong point at 2. Now imagine trying to make the rest of them do that too.... at 2 yrs old.
I think if you could get them to put a bite of a cupcake in their mouths you have done well. I don't know that I know many that have had a party at 2 other than family just for the get togethers. If there is a party at 2 it is more for the adults. Just have a cake or cupcakes or snacks and drinks... whatever. Let the kids play in the toys, sing happy birthday to the birthday girl and visit with the adults as much as you can. Take pictures and just send all the kiddos home with a little bad of party treats.
Don't worry about games. At the end of the day/night you can be proud that you all made it through alive and if your house is still in tact, be thankful.
I have yet to meet a kid that does not like to LIMBO!
I got a pinata for my daughter's second birthday. I got the kind that you pull strings from instead of beat with a bat. The kids seemed to like it.
We did play-doh. Just a kid table with play-doh and rolling pins, garlic presses etc. All the adults were there and the older kids helped. Jump house can be pricy but that was fun too. I had a pin the tail on the donkey ready and a pinata full of candy and a table to dye Easter eggs. All planned and ready for the party! Between jump house, lunch, cake and play-doh. Nothing else happened! Good luck. The time flies!
We are playing the fishing game at my son's 2nd birthday party. Just make a fishing pole and attach a clothes pin to one end of the string. Kids take turns casting over a board or sheet to fish for a prize from the hidden side. You can also use a magnet at the end of the string and have kids fish in a bowl or on a table for light things like stickers or tatoos that have a staple put in them. Then each cast will get a prize to stick to their pole.
There's always "pin the tail on...." We have used a poster of a dump truck and had "rocks" to put in the back of the truck, a frog with a long tongue and ladybug stickers, and a fire engine with hose with triangles of blue paper to be the water.
trying to organize 2 year olds for a game is like trying to herd cats. You might try having open ended craft stuff for the older ones and play doh or something tactile like that for the little ones. The little ones LOVE a big bin filled with rice or beans (or more traditionally, a sand box or baby pool) and bury little plastic animals in it and provide digging, sifting, pouring and other various kitchen tools. For the older ones, set up a craft table with lots of supplies. They can make hats or paper bag puppets, or some other themed item to go with the theme of the party (if you have a theme). If you have a pinata, the most popular thing we have found is to decorate paper bags for the pinata treats. Mostly, kids will play with whatever toys you have available to them. Bouncy houses are popular with kids of all ages, but you may have to segregate older ones and younger ones so the small ones don't get trampled! Have a great party!
you are good, it will be hard to get them to do even this many games, but the two first ones are great! - keep it simple, make it more like a big playdate and have fun.
:)
I always rcommend a good old fashioned Easter Egg Hunt - yet fashion it to tailor your party. IE: If you have a flower theme, hide silk flowers all over the backyard. If the theme is safari, hide your daughters stuffed animals all over. We hid toy frogs for my sons 1st bday. He didn't play, but the three other kids liked it. My cousin hid dinosaurs in easter eggs for her son's bday.
You could always do a "how many M&Ms are in the jar" contest too. Those are always great, but only if you get to take the candy home!
Two Ideas - Both games can be set up so kids can visit as they wish (younger with parents and older on their own) or with everyone watching.
Guess the number of candies or small objects in a glass/plastic jar and write guess on paper available. Closest guess wins the jar full of treats.
Toss the bean bag/small stuffed animal into the container/box arranged on the table/ground that have pictures or items of what the child would like. Some of the containers/boxes can be empty. This is a fun way for kids to get the food you are offering during the party (small bags of chips or crackers, lollipops, stickers, hugs, etc.).
Get a bunch of battery operated bubble blowers for the older ones to blow and let the little ones catch the bubbles.
Get some giant boxes let the older ones tape them together as a maze and then have them crawl through them like tunnels.
Play Simon says.
Get a pinata. Le the tiny ones hit with no blindfold and let the older ones wear a blindfold, but let them break it open.
my kids always enjoyed musical chairs, and its always fun to watch them. you can make the bigger kids walk on their knees to be a little more fair.
you can always have a pinata too. just let the small kids go first.
