I just got a new job and start 10/2/2006. I need referrals for a safe, secure, nuturing, educational full time day care for my 2.5 year old son. He's not potty trained yet. I'd like it in a center, not in someone's home. I need one either near 156/Giles or 72nd/Sorenson....or maybe somewhere along the 80/680 between those two locations. I've already looked at Primrose, Goddard, Millard Learning Center, Millard Children's Academy, Amazing Days for Little People, Creative Beginnings, Kindercare (Birch), Lollipop Patch (72/Blondo), La Petite (S 138th), Get Ready Set Grow. If you have any comments about the ones I've mentioned or can refer me to any center in the areas I've mentioned, I'd appreciate it.

Also - if you have any experience with Alegent's Day Care at Immanuel Hospital or Child's Play (72nd/Dodge), I'd love to know about it!

Thanks!
L.

So What Happened?

We decided on La Petite on S 138th! It seemed nice and clean...the teacher in his room was great...overall I got a good vibe. I hope I'm right!

Thanks for the advice - I really appreciate it!

I would NOT recommend Millard Children's Academy. My daughter, my nephew and my brother's good friend's children all had bad experiences there. In my experience, the children are frequently left to their own devices. It's a mad house. They talk the talk, but in opinion, they don't walk the walk. Contact me if you want specifics.

My 5 year old daughter just "graduated" from Child's Play. Susie Waters is the director and has an EXCELLENT facility. I can't say enough about her, the teachers, the facility or her educational program. Jordi was there for a year and I wish I had found them earlier. She learned a lot in one year and is now in Kindergarten.

The facility itself is clean, neat, well maintained, and has a large play ground (both sand area and grassy area). The teachers are excellent and have a genuine interest in taking care of and teaching the children. The teachers have good control over the children and it shows. The classes are very organized and well mannered. Disciplinary action is very fair. I never heard a teacher or assistant yell at any of the children.

Each week has a different theme and is full of fun, challenging, and exciting events. They go on field trips now and then as well (apple orchard, pumpkin patch, zoo, Children's museum, PlayDaze, etc.) About every other month it seems as if they had an event where the parents could attend during the day to help celebrate (Mother's Day lunch, Father's Day lunch, Christmas program, Halloween parade, 4th of July parade, etc.)

We had an EXCELLENT experience there and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants good, dependable, quality preschool. During the school year, the classes are run like the kids are in school. They learn to write, learn their ABCs, numbers, and even teach them basic Spanish.

I strongly urge you to check them out! If you have any questions about Child's Play, please don't hesitate to email me.

My sons go to LaPetite on South 138th. I love it there and they do too. My youngest(2 on Tuesday)has been going there since he was 6 weeks. I love the girls that work there. My oldest went to Lolipop Patch, I would not recommend going there. It has been 3 years since he was there, but they did not have a set pre-school like La Petite does. And I don't know if all the same teachers are there or not,but there was one at Lollipop Patch that picked on certain kids(mine was one of them). And Get,Ready,Set,Grow is operated by the famliy that runs Lollipop. I looked at them 4 years ago and I didn't like them.
