Front Load Washers

My washing machine has just spun it's last load and I am in the market for a new one. I am only looking at front load washers as they are more effecient and eco-friendly than top load washers. I am looking for recommendations from anyone that has a good front load washer, and also any information on the not-so-good washers out there.
Thanks in advance.

EDIT
I just wanted to add that I have had a front loader for the past 9 years and have not had a single problem with it until the bearings went and it will cost almost as much as a new machine to replace them. I know for sure that I want a front loader, I do not like top loaders, so I really just need recommendations on front load machines. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up buying an LG front loader and never washed a single load in it due to circuit board problems. I was so frustrated with it that I returned it, then bought the Whirlpool Duet and so far love it!!!
Thanks for all the advice ladies.

Hi M.,

Like Meaghan, my husband has sold appliances. He would agree with her husband as well. Bosch (german made), Samsung and my Maytag (like her Whirlpool) were on the top of his list. He didn't sell Kenmore but they have a good rating and most people he's talked to loved theirs. I love my Maytag!

I don't have issues with mold either. I do keep the door cracked open when it's not in use.

Happy hunting!

M.

I love my Whirlpool, my parents love their Samsung, and my inlaws love their Bosch. My hubby sold appliances for quite some time and those were the only 3 brands that he really recommended. Most every other brand had quite a few problems (Maytag is owned by Whirlpool, so it's all the same thing).

I have had my Samsung steam washer for about a year and it rocks my world. The clothes get CLEAN, and I love that I'm able to sanitize the laundry using steam rather than bleach. I hardly have to use any laundry detergent... it's just great! I don't have any issues with smell, and I don't leave the door open. However, I use the heck out of the sanitize cycle, so maybe that's why.

We did have one small issue after we bought it with a leak, and Samsung had a repair guy on site within 24 hours. It turned out to be an installation error (the Best Buy delivery guys hadn't clamped the drain hose in place properly), however Samsung covered it under warranty anyway. Altogether my experience with this washer has been fantastic! I would recommend it.

I have the Kenmore HE5t and love it. I also leave the door open a crack and haven't had mold issues.

Love mine. Kenmore H4T.

Haven't had any problems in almost 4 years (even though I wasted a bunch of money on the extended warranty -- DON'T), and I haven't had mold issues. I keep washer door open when not in use, as suggested. No mold at all.

I finally had to do the same thing -- buy front loaders. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Samsung washer and dryer. Now I don't know how I lived without them. Good luck in your search. There are some good models out there.

I have a kenmore HE3 and love that bad boy. We've had ours for about 4/5 years now and it's been through 6 moves and still works perfectly. And it's been dragged up and down stairs several times. I have never had any issues with mold either.

I have primarily only purchased Kenmore (Sears) since before we were married 23 years ago. I really have never had a problem with anything I've purchased and IF I ever did, Sears stood behind it.

I've had my Kenmore HE3 Front load washer and dryer for 8 years and would purchase again in a heart beat!

I bought my front loader in 1996 its a Fridgedare (whirlpool). I absolutely love it. The problems that I did have were just wear and tear... I have had to replace the front latch in 2007 and I had to replace a valve last year. So, in the 17 years that I've had my washer, I've only spent $250 in repairs.

I love my LG washer and dryer, although I know they make top loaders that are better and more eco friendly than in the past. Looking at the price, I would consider a top loader if I had to redo and I only purchased our new set last July.

I purchased Electrolux Front Loaders (washer and dryer).Had them for a year. I absolutely love the washer. The clothes come out so clean. The dryer takes a bit longer to dry than I expect. There is a message on my washer that says clean it and we do so with bleach (instructions in the manual). We did have a couple of incidents where the straps tore on a tank top, but no big deal. I love how it CLEANS. We bought the extended warranty at Lowes and it was a super deal so do that and not the factory extended warranty if you do.

I have a front load GE washer that is two years old and I HATE it with a passion. I will never purchase another one. I would recommend the top load washers that also save water. I can't tell you how many items have come out ripped. I also just had to replace the seal which cost me $200 last week and the repairman was here again today.
