First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you that responded to my post! My psychiatrist is still on vacation and won't be back until next Wednesday, however with the help of my husband, the E/R (4 times), my primary care dr & all of you, I have made it! My psychiatrist called me yesterday and advised me to stop using my lithium (thankfully) b/c the rash that I have is horrible, but none of the other dr's could advise me to do so b/c of the risk of me going off of it completely could have caused some serious SH**! Anyways, I have gone over each of your emails and am familiar w/many of the medications mentioned. Julie Fast, who was mentioned in one of the posts is a remarkable woman! If I could meet anyone, it would be her! I think that what she has done for Bipolar is amazing and I think that there is so much more that needs to be done. At this moment,, my husband and I are researching different meds, as I have an appt w/my psychiatrist next Wednesday. It is to my understanding that Seroquel & Aderol are both medications that are both used in conjunction w/another medication, lithium was the only medication that I was on. I have been on Effexor from time to time kind of to fill in the bumps, but I cannot be put on an anti-depressant for any length of time b/c I spin into a manic state.l When I was first diagnosed bipolar, I was put on Zoloft but the following May they switched me to lithium because I hit the manic side. We are keeping an open mind and each time I start doubting things I just take a deep breathe & repeat this :
DON'T CRY OVER THE PAST, IT'S GONE
DON'T STRESS ABOUT THE FUTURE, IT HASN'T ARRIVED
JUST LIVE IN THE PRESENT AND MAKE THE MOST OF IT.

That's what I have to do and I want to again thank each one of you for helping me bring my feet back down to the ground and helping me through this.

What can I do next?

Have you tried Zyprexa? My son has been on it for a couple of years and has no side effects from it.

Good luck!
