Did you do your daughters hair or have someone else do it? One of my daughters hair is super easy and looks good straight and pulled back a little. The other daughter is wavy but looks so messy all the time. I've tried it up an pinned but its so much work. Im wondering if its worth the money and struggle to have someone else do it.
My daughter is a hair stylist and in most of the weddings she does, she does the hair of each of the attendents along with the bride. See what the bride has planned and if you can, get it done by a hairstylist.
I have three girls have done their hair for several occasions (weddings, dances etc). WHat has worked best for me is to roll it the night before. With dry hair, take a section, put on a small amount of gel, put on an end paper if you have them and roll it. (I use sponge rollers) In the morning you have beautful, tight curls that last a long time. I just pick them apart, put the hair up in a pony tail and pin the curls around. A few soft wisps on the side and/or back, hairspray and they are set! Good luck.
My daughter has been a flower girl twice and both times we had her hair done by someone else. It is also her special day and she deserves 'special' hair as well.
I tried to curl my daughter's hair and thought of doing it for one of the weddings BUT her hair is so fine and DOES NOT hold a curl at all. It was worth it to have it done - more money yes, but less stress for all (plus a bonus for her to have 'special' hair. Sometimes stylists seem to just have the right products (and of course and spray like crazy).
My daughter's hair looks nice when straight and we decided a little curl (not Shirley Temple) and pulled back so out of her face with a headband. Easy and comfortable!

I have done a few flower girls hair, including my flower girl for my wedding, I did an upside down frenchbraid to a pile of curls safety pinned in place, it looks great with wavy hair and the french braid with hairspray stays in place all day.
I did my my 5 year old's hair for a wedding. We just did a double braid - one on each side of her head. It stays in better than the traditional one down the center of her head. Do it when her hair is wet! I got all kind of compliments on it that day. It was super cute and stayed in all day and night!
For my own daugher, who didn't have much hair at the time of the wedding but DID have messy thick hair....I pulled it up in a sort-of half pony tail and put a fake-hair scrunchy around it. I wet the back of her hair, the stuff that was till hanging down, and used gel to make the wet curls stay as curls and not go frizzy. We slid a little crown thing kind of over the fake hair, and no one was the wiser! I think I bought the fake hair scrunchy thing at Claire's. I DO remember that it came with some hot pink strands in it, so I had to cut that out of it! LOL! All I know is, it was way cheaper than the 50$ I was gonna be charged at JC Penney for her hair!
It is totally worth the money for them to feel like a princess for the day. When my daughter was a flower girl we had hers done professionally and it looked great all day. I think if you let a stylist do it, their hair will stay all day and night and you will not have to worry about it falling out.
