I'm looking to get a fitness tracker and have read good things about jawbone and Fitbit. I also have an iPhone and know the Applewatch is on its way to being released. Does anyone have any idea which is the best options and why they like one over the other?

What can I do next?

I love *LOVE* my Fitbit. Of course, I don't really know much about the other ones out there, so I can't say it's better or worse than any other tracker. But it does everything I want, it doesn't crash, syncing is easy, the website is easy to use, it's small and hides well in clothes, I really really love everything about it.

I have the kind of personality that works well with fitness trackers. If it says I have to walk 5 miles, I will. If I need to get 3000 more steps in for the day, I'm jogging in place at night to get to my goal. Between my Fitbit and MyFitnessPal (where I log my food), I've lost 20lbs (and counting). It motivates me to get off my @$$ and get moving.

I had a jawbone up24. It was ok, but crashed - often. Jawbone replaced it once, best buy replaced it once, I got tired of having issues and switched to the Mis Fit Shine. I love it. No charging - it runs on a watch battery. I've had 0 problems with it, syncs beautifully every time. Right now they have the Mis Fit Flash on sale for $25, I bought one of those too. Like it even better. The Shine is nicer looking, but the Flash is easier to toggle the display.

ETA - the Shine & Flash double as watches, get them in all black and no one will know you're wearing an activity tracker. I also had a bodybug. IMO the apps of all 3 are very similar, and when looking at my MIL garmin and my other MIL fitbit they seem similar. It would be helpful to know what specifically you want from your activity tracker.

I know someone with Fitbit, and the reason she likes it is because some of her friends have it, and they compete against each other. So if you have a competitive nature, you might want to get what your friends have so that you can keep each other motivated.

i've got the garmin 110, which does an excellent job. but we've had issues with the 'wireless' (ha!) feature, and even plugging mine in doesn't always work well. for what we paid for our 2 garmins i'd expect 'em to synch better with the computers.
but they're very very good for keeping track of tons of data.
