Hi S.,
I too, live in the Raytown area. My two older kids have both attended Raytown High School for their Baby Jays program. It's a H.S. class where the students teach the pre-schoolers. It's sort of a college prep class for those who will be doing any kind of teaching, childcare, etc. in the future. They have a teacher in the classroom as well. My children absolutely LOVE the H.S. aged kids sooooo much! It was only $50 each semester, too. Not like regular pre-school where you have to pay an arm and a leg, uggghhh! We just couldn't afford that.
Each of the pre-schoolers had their own H.S. "buddy," and sometimes even 2. It was amazing how much they truly cared for the little ones. I even got some #'s for babysitting for over the summer from some of the girls one year.
If you're interested, I'd call the school district and talk to them about it, or if you're involved, call your Parents As Teachers person and they can help you out as well.
Hope this helps!
Liz W.
