I don't LOL In fact I'm so un-girly my baby sister has said (more than once) that one of these days I was going to get my "girl card" taken away LOL
I'm just me ... people can love me as is ... or go away. Their choice.
So my original question was nearly a year ago. You can find it here: http://www.mamapedia.com/questions/17570811689383886849
I wanted to come back to you mamas and let you know what's up with me and how I've changed without losing me...and to say thank you to all you moms who are like me: a girl, but not girly.
So I lost quite a bit of the baby weight. I'm 25 pounds away from my goal weight, and although I'm not happy with my little tummy, I'm content at this moment. I had been doing P90X before the wedding and loved it! The two week vacation, and the increase in symptoms from a recently diagnosed medical condition have side lined that for now. (Make no mistakes though, I'll "Bring It!" again here soon!)
I had Lasik done, so I'm not hiding behind my glasses anymore. I went to ULTA and had a wonderful young lady there teach me how to do my makeup. She taught me how to do something for everyday that takes me literally 3 minutes! Then she taught me how to do something for work (if I could ever get a job!) and then something for evenings out and parties. They all compliment my face and bring out my eyes. I found out during this consult that she also does hair there at ULTA...so I set up an appointment for her to do my hair. When I came she asked me what I wanted done. I told her that she was the expert and could do whatever. I had been letting my hair grow out from the "Kate" I had worn for so long, so it was a blank canvas. She gave me an awesome cut that is just above my shoulders and so easy to take care of. Sure, I have to straighten it every day, but I love it! She also colored it. The colors she chose are a combination of two of my daughters, who she met. It's a light brown, with blonde highlights.
When I'm running around the house, chasing after the kids, shopping...basically anything but riding my motorcycle...I'm wearing tennis outfits and tennis shoes. This keeps me sporty, but I'm wearing a skirt! Yes, I know in my original post, I said I wouldn't wear skirts, but this actually works! I also wear jewelry with it, so I look a bit more put together.
I don't remember if I mentioned something about the facial hair in my other post, but I know I've mentioned it here before. I've recently found out that the hair growth on my face and neck are due to a medical condition. As such, the root is being treated and the doctor is trying to get the insurance to pay for laser hair removal. I've been having my eyebrows waxed fairly regularly.
I guess I just wanted to say thank you mamas for giving me such great advice and the courage to find the feminine woman in me without losing me. (If you look at my profile, you can see a recent pic of me with the hair and makeup.)
So to keep with ToS, my question: How do you mamas stay feminine while still being superwoman?
I don't LOL In fact I'm so un-girly my baby sister has said (more than once) that one of these days I was going to get my "girl card" taken away LOL

How inspiring! Congrats on a great year and finding your feminitiy. This put a smile on my face.
And to answer your question - I haven't figured it out yet, hehehe.
You are looking great! I peeked at your profile picture.
You have inspired me...I am going to get my hair under control (it is long unshaped and lives in a ponytail or bun. I am also going to get rid of my grey.
I stay feminine by always wearing lipstick. I cannot leave the house w/out it on. I may have on no other make-up and huge zits on my chin, but my lips look great!!
You go girl!!!
.
Beautiful and great job!
I feel like a girly girl...but being a mom to 3 leaves me very little me time.
I recently at the beginning of summer got a very short pixie cut and although it was something of a shock at first, I am now used to it and love the freedom. I do make sure I wear earrings and although I am not a big fan of makeup, if I have nothing else on I do make sure I have lip gloss and mascara = )
I am quite the jean girl...but I try and find flattering tops to pair with them.
I paint my toenails because it makes ME feel pretty.
I like to wear perfume and body lotion, my favorite right now is Fancy and it smells sweet and a little bit goes a long way, in fact if I know I am going to be in a crowd all I will wear is the body lotion...don't want to make anyone nauseated = )
I think it is awesome that you have made these changes to feel better about you.
I am trying to get motivated to lose about 30 lbs that I put on with my last pregnancy and have yet to take off.
You look fantastic :-) Keep up the good work !!!!!!!!
So happy your doing all this for yourself !!!!!!!
Wow girl, I loved your story! You are inspiring!
I am a tomboy and its hard for me to be "girly". My bff says I look gorgeous when i do a little dress up but i feel so out of place when i do. The only makeup i wear and its rare that i do is a little mascara and lip gloss. I like wearing my sports shorts and all the really comfortable shorts and shoes and flip flops! I try to be a little "girly" for my hubs but i still feel uncomfortable and i have no idea why!
Thanks for sharing your story!
What a great update! You made me smile. :)
Even when I'm not wearing make-up, dressed up, etc - I still feel feminine. My maternal, flirty, expressive and smiling self - well I don't feel I need anything else to be considered feminine. I generally feel my most powerful and sexy when I'm pregnant - having that feminine specialty that enables life to grow inside of a woman and all ;o)
I am very happy for you that you've found yourself, did steps in order to get where you felt you needed to be! Keep up the great work.
Jennifer, I was one of your original posters and it was so fun for me to read your post and see your photo. You look awesome! I want to find myself in life too....although, not focusing on the physical but what I'm going to do in this next phase of my life. So, good for you sticking to your goal. You look gorgeous!
