Hi, I am a massage therapist & after reading the responses, I would 1)consult your doctor and 2)consider getting a foot reflexology session or foot massage. There are a variety of things that can cause sharp shooting pain in your foot, depending on your activity, your body structure, your hydration level & body composition.
Drink plenty of water to flush out any toxins in your body, as the feet tend to collect "gritty" areas where minerals deposit on the muscles or connective tissue, which can cause pain. You might have an inflammation of the fascia, or connective tissue on the bottom of your feet, which is really painful & needs structural support (orthotics or arch supports) as well as massage, &/or anti-inflammatory treatment (like advil or aleve or something like it). You might have a nerve impingement, or a bone spur, which both should be checked out by a dr.
You can do some self-help by massaging lotion into the feet regularly, preferably daily. Spend some time on the gritty or sore areas, and spend some time on the areas that feel good, too (to balance it out). If you'd like to find a massage therapist, you can ask for a recommendation from a friend or family member, or check out my business, Dynamics, in Davis. Besides myself, there is another massage therapist who works with me.
There are lots of options, be sure to take care of yourself well so you can be at your best for your family! You deserve it.
