Favorite Board Games

What are your family's favorite teen/adult games? We like playing cards, Scattergoroes, and Pictionary - but we're looking for a freshen-up! Any suggestion on what to buy? We usually have at least 4 players, sometimes up to 10 players -- ages 14 to Adult -- but if you know a really great game for just 2 players, please share as well. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would definitely recommend Mad Gab! Not the one that you play on the tv (Mad Gab Mania), but the original one with the cards. It comes in and orange cube shaped box. It's a blast and a billion laughs!

We love Quiddler and Spinner. You can get both on Amazon and sometimes on Ebay. Quiddler is a word game with cards. It is my absolute favorite game (although I am a big word nerd :) ). Spinner looks like a coloured version of dominoes and it super fun. I think the max is 8 players. We take a family trip to the mountains of Colorado every year (no electricity) and those two always come along!

I love Cranium and Scene It. Bunko is also tons of fun! Balderdash is also lots of fun! I am so ready to be able to play something other than Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders! :)

I like board games - the usual suspects: Monopoly, Life, Scrabble, etc. I also love the Wii, especially bowling, as someone else mentioned. But I have to say my all time favorite game is reverse canasta! Reverse Canasta is a card game and you can play with many players and age 14 and up is perfect! The most people I've played with is six...it's definitely a game for pairs.

Cranium and Taboo are fun. I do NOT recommend Battle of the Sexes. It was not fun at all.

Here are some games that me, my husband, and our other late-20-something friends still love to play when we get together. We also play them with my niece & nephew (10 & 13):

Uno, Uno Attack, Rummikub, In A Pickle, Apples to Apples, Hoopla, Dominoes (Mexican Train, chicken foot, etc.), Jenga, Scattergories, and many others that I can't remember the names of.

Our family enjoys the "standards", but also have found that the card game "slamwich" is a blast. With a larger group, you may need two games and split up the room.

We don't play board games but we do love playing the sports on the Wii. We endup getting quite a workout too, especially with the boxing! We also have a pool table and we enjoy that sometimes.

We like Racko (it's 4 players only) and Apples to Apples. My friends and I also enjoy the domino game called Mexican Train, which can last several hours.

My husband and I like to play board games. Some of our favorites are Ticket to Ride (2-5 players), Cranium Hoopla (2 or more), Khet (2 players), and Ingenious (1-6 players). A fun card game is Parlay (2-6 players). Most of these games can be purchased online at Amazon and other sites. Or you can find them at game specialty shops. I'm not sure of the name, but there's one at Valley View Mall.

Last Thanksgiving, my husband and I played with our teenage & college aged cousins the new Monopoly Here & Now, and we all had a blast. Of course, it can be a long game but there are ways to shorten it, and the game directions include those shorter versions to speed it up. Also, Blokus is really cool too for up to 4 players ages 8 to adult. Quiddler is fun too.

Our kids love board games. We do them all...Scrabble, Monopoly, Life, Scene It, Trivial Pursuit, etc. Some faves are Mad Gab, Imaginiff (lots of fun), Taboo and Catch Phrase. If there are just two of us my daughter loves Mancala. (that one is cheap, $5 at Target!) We also play cards. My kids can play rummy and hearts. Then there's dominoes. We play chicken feet, lots of fun.

We love Catch Phrase, Scene it, and DVD trivial pursuit Pop culture edition. Another fun one is Loaded Questions, but you may want to field some of the questions first. I dont think they are super racy, but it does seem to be that there have been a few pop up that I would not find appropriate for kids, of course I am very reserved, so maybe others would not find them questionable at all!! And, if you have never played Cranium, it is a must have for sure!!! There is a quicker version called Pop 5 ( I think so at least) that we also enjoy. Have lots of fun, you have made me ready to have a game night!! ~A.~
