Heya mama's!!!
My birthday is coming up next month and although I never ask for anything, I have decided THIS year I KNOW what I want!! I want to have family portraits taken. Does anyone have any suggestions of good places to go that do not cost a fortune? We don't have a whole lot of money to spend on it and I would like to get enough of them to send back home to family....and a large 16x20 to put up above my fireplace on our mantle...
any advice or suggestions???

Thanks for all the suggestions gang!!! I am very excited about this now. I have decided that money wise, since I kinda need mass quantity to send back home, we are going to go to Portrait Innovations first! I found their website wonderful and they have a special now for $9.95 and no sitting fees! It may not end up being the "one" I put above the mantle...but I will be happy with it!
I want to wait until the fall folliage to do the professional shoot on location. I remember when the leaves started turning color last year I was in awe...we really don't have "seasons" where I am from...so I fell in love!!! I am, however, planning a trip to the Nasher sculpture museum...but that is just for ME!!! :)

Innovations Portraits do a Wonderful Job. The only location I know is in Plano Parker and the Tollway at the Target shopping Ctr.

I have been to Portrait Innovations in Plano off of Park and the Tollway two times and I think they are really good. There is no sitting fee and you can get your pictures within 30 minutes. You get to select them right after they take them. At Christmas I got 25 8x10 sheets for $100 plus tax. You can't beat that! And they turned out so good!! I will definitely be going back.

Our family has used her several times and have been extremely pleased with her work AND pricing. We especially loved that we could purchase a disc of the photos taken and then have multiple copies made at Sam's (she will provide you with a letter so you can print your own). Her pricing on larger sizes (bigger than 8x10) is also EXTREMELY reasonable compared to other "professional" photographers.

I had really good luck at Portrait Innovations in Plano. It is a comfortable and relaxed setting. They work with you really well to get the shots you want and you get the pictures within half an hour. I thought their prices were extremely reasonable. This lady just did my son's portraits, and she is FABULOUS. In fact, I just scheduled her to do OUR family portraits this Thursday :) She is VERY cost-efficient (I think it's like 125 for location photography), and she GIVES you the cd with all the images on it so you can take it anywhere to get them printed (WAY cheaper than buying from a photographer!). And, she usually gives discounts to mamasourcers. Anyway, her name is Terry. Check her out if you haven't found anyone else yet. Good luck!
