I used to have the Simplicity for Moms version of a Franklin-Covey planner, which had a week-at-a-glance appointment book with a large section for my day plus 4 other sections, which I used for the kids (doubling up my younger two who were on the same schedule), meal planning and other stuff. It was basically days across the top, and people down the side.
I got to a point where I didn't really need that. At home, I use a Flylady wall calendar. It's HUGE. Each day's box is like 1x2 inches or something close to that. Everyone in my family has a different color flair pen assigned to him or her and appointments for everyone go on in the appropriate color. Mine are magenta, the boys are blue, purple or green, etc. I can fit everyone's appointments in this calendar, then I used my Outlook calendar to plan my work day. I stack up the appointments by time so I can see in advance when we have conflicts and arrange accordingly. It works surprisingly well for our busy family of 6.
