PLEASE SEND ME YOUR RECIPES!! Have any of you tried any WW meals that are great for the family? I have a LOT of weight to drop and this is my last attempt before seriously going for the surgery option. My mom had gastric bypass and she looks and feels AMAZING now, but it was a scary time for a while. So I really want to get it off. My husband and I are surprising the kdis with a Disney cruise in late September, and I want to get AT LEAST 75 pounds off by then. So tonight I am making a southwest mac and cheese, it looks like a chili mac basically, but what have you tried that has gone over well? Thanks!

I don't have any recipes, but I can give you some tips. We have cut out meat at least once a week. We will have a giant salad or make a vegetable the main course. I have mixed ground turkey into the mix, not ground turkey breast, but just ground turkey. At first I would mix ground chuck & turkey together. My family hated it at first, but now they love the turkey. I mainly use it in chili's, spaghetti's, mexican dishes. Also, I try to stay away from white carbs during dinner. It's hard, but once you start doing it it gets easier...

Good Luck and have a BLAST on your Disney Cruise!!!!!

My family enjoys everything I make, luckily, and I only make WW and Hungry Girl recipes. I have a TON of WW recipes and I'd be happy to mail them to you.I'm in the process of scanning them all to my computer. I hate the idea of throwing away the hard copies when someone else can use them. If you want them please message me with your address.

In the meantime some great sites for recipes are Hungrygirl.com, 3fatchicksonadiet.com, WeightWatchers.com, dwlz.com, aimeesadventures.com. I love my crockpot and a great cookbook for lowfat meals is The Busy Mom's Slow Cooker Cookbook by Jyl Steinback. I often go to the library to try out cookbooks for a while to see if they're worth buying. Good luck! You can do this!

I know people that have been very successful with weight watcher's but I also know people who get burnt out on the point thing and give up and then keep trying to go back.
Since you are seriously considering bypass, I would get a referral to a nutritionist. You really need to know what foods to combine (or not)...what times of day to eat, etc.
My ex husband was never obese, but he was pretty big. He was a food junkie. I swear, I was certain he was cheating on me and he was! I caught him red handed one day. It wasn't another woman, it was food. He had all these credit card charges for restaurants and hotel restaurants early in the morning and late at night. He was eating. On top of his meals at home.
Anyway, he has lost a LOT of weight. He will never be thin, he's not built that way, but he has a family history of cardiac disease and he got scared. He now eats small meals throughout the day and has healthy snacks like fruit and vegetables and uses portion control. He has a serious sweet tooth, but he allows himself a treat now and then. However, he can eat one piece chocolate cake and stop. (He used to eat the whole thing).
He also discovered that his glucose levels played a part in his binging because he was over-doing it or under-doing it and his system was completely out of whack which led to more cravings.
His weight caused knee and hip problems so he can't walk for miles or do certain types of exercise. He's lost all the weight by changing the WAY he ate.
I really urge you to see a nutritionist. They can help with menu plans and recipes and believe me, nutrionists want you to eat and be healthy. They can help you calculate how many calories per day you should take in in order to lose X amount and then be able to maintain it.
I would try this first. I really would. Even if you have gastric bypass, you still have to learn a healthy way of eating to take care of your body.
Your whole family can benefit from what you learn.

I wish you every success.

Congratulations on deciding to get healthy! I started back at WW on Oct. 13 and have lost 29.4 pounds as of last Thursday. It does take planning, but I have noticed that my family is also eating healthier as a side benefit! If you haven't tried them yet, try brown rice and whole wheat pasta. I do whole wheat pasta with shrimp and broccoli and spaghetti sauce. Everyone gobbles it up and is a low points plus value! Every recipe I've tried from WW has been good and as long as I don't tell anyone it's a WW recipe, no one knows the difference. Good luck and have fun on your cruise!

I make a chicken/veal parm that is 5 points a serving, pumpkin spice cake muffins that are 1 1/2 points, white chili that is 6 points a serving. That's all I can think of right now. I can send you the recipes if you're interested in any. Just message me. I don't know how any of these convert to the new point system though. I haven't done weight watchers in a year and I know they changed it.

Get the WW recipe book Best of WW magazine volume 1.
THis is from page 100 NC BBQ Pork Rub with Mop Sauce

RUb
2 TBS packed brown sugar
1 TBS paprika
1 TBS Chili powder
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1 tsp salt ( i don't use this much)
1/4 tsp Cayenne

Mop Sauce
2/3 C ketchup

After pork has been rubbed prepare grill and grill until pork is cooked through. I use an indirect heat with a charcoal grill, light your grill, move the coals to the sides and cook the meat inside the ring of coals.

Serve and drizzle mop sauce on meat and enjoy.

Also good with chicken.

3 oz meatr with 2 tbsp sauce=4 points.
