Even though I am not happy at all with my husband right now and we are talking divorce and like, for those that have read previous post of mine, Fathers day is comming up. I will, least I hope to be, going to my mothers that week, and be returning home on fathers day, I was wondering what little gift, something crafty, that I can help my son with in making for his daddy. I don't see any reason for my upsets with my sons daddy to stop him for doing something for his daddy for fathers day and would be fun for me and my son to do something artsy together. We haven't done much of that kind of stuff, so any suggestions. My son is 5 so anything that would be alright and easy for him to do but would make for a nice sentimental fathers day gift for his daddy.

One of my favorite things my son did when he was in daycare was a Father/son handprint. They sent home a piece of card stock and asked my husband to trace his hand on it and send it back. (I don't know if you can get him to do this?) At daycare, they traced my son's hand inside my husband's, then wrote and illustrated all the things my son said he loved to do with Daddy around the hands. I had it laminated and it is such a keepsake!

a card is always nice. and it can be out of anything. when my son was about 3 (and not into very many crafts yet) i had him color in a coloring book several pictures that "went" together (like several kittens), then i cut them out and pasted them into the card. once he started writing his name i had him sign them. we did that for several people one year.

I always take a picture of the boys in my husband's favorite sports team's shirts. He has one from every year that we've had kids:) It's a great time of year for a nice outside picture, too:)

Daycare had my oldest paint a wooden frame (I assume she just found it at a craft store) and then put a picture of him in it.

We also have always had the kids do cards according to their ability level. I fold a piece of cardstock or buy a card and let them draw whatever their ability level is. I bet you can find things online to print on cardstock or glue on for father's day. Anyway, something like that is more about the child's age and relationship with daddy than your relationship the the father, so it might be a good middle ground. You're being a good mom to put your kid's relationship with dad before your own (which you know, but sometimes it's nice to have a cheerleader:).

They make coffee mugs now that come with special markers so you can decorate it just for him. It is a nice way to allow kids to be creative & a useful constant reminder to daddy of his child.

I beleive you can get them at Walmart or Target.

I also love crafty, sentimental and personalized gifts. I made my grandma and mom a personalized photo greeting on TinyPrints that was a huge hit, I added some kid photos, personalized the text, they even stamped and mailed it too!
