Hi Moms,
Do you have any recommendations for skin care products that you use and work for you? I'm just looking for basic skin care and preventative care for aging. I haven't been too impressed with the products I have tried (over the counter and expensive ones). So looking for some products that someone really believes in. My skin tends to lean towards the sensitive side, but otherwise normal to dry. (Please - not interested in advice from anyone who sells skin care products.)
Thanks!!
Cyndi

Aloette is my favorite. I've used Mary Kay with great results but Aloette is my favorite. I have sensitive skin & have had no problems with either. Aloette seems to have the best age defying products. Good luck! & I can give you the name of someone for both products if you want. Good luck!!

C.,
I have normal to combination skin and have used Oil of Olay Foaming Face wash 2x a day for years. At night I use a basic over the counter astringent after washing. Once a week I use Mary Kay's Microdermabrasion duo to exfoliate and get a great glow. Mary Kay has a great line of skin care products. I'm slowly buying up different things. I love the Firming Eye Cream!! I use it 2x a day as well. I promise you I don't sell it, I just trust it because it works! Allow me to toot my own horn for a second. On average, people think I look 7 years younger than I actually am. I love it!
One last thing, once every 2 weeks I like to steam my face for 10 minutes. That helps unclog pores to get my skin looking really great. Good luck finding what works for you!

Cyndi,
I used to use Obagi products but about 6 months ago I switched to Skinceuticals. I love it. My face doesn't break out like it used to and it's very gentle. You have to buy it through a dermatologist or skin care center. They also have Vit. C liquid that I use daily that has helped so much with the fine lines on my face. I really recommend it.

My derm suggested Neutrogena products. They have a good facial wash that takes off makeup and washes your face and then they have a good skin cleanser w/ salisylic acid in it. Also, Aveeno is really good. Both have a good facial moisurizer that have SPF in them. Up to 45spf in them. I have heard that these are comparable to the expensive brands. I have also heard that Oil of Olay Regenerist is one of the best for under eye care. I use the neutrogena and have used the Aveeno. I have used the olay regenerist but am currently using Arbonne for under eye. It is pricey and is good but I think Aveeno or Olay under eye is just as good. The mags say that Olay Regenerist is best.

The best aging prevention is sunscreen. I use the lotion with it in it and then I also use makeup with sunscreen in it. Use a sponge to put on your makeup so you don't pull on your skin, even a small pulling stretches especially under your eyes.

Bath and Body Works also has a good line, Wexler. It is a bit pricey but is good.

hi there! I have to recommend Burt's Bees skin care line. They have several to choose from, and you can get them almost anywhere now. My husband and I use The Chamomile and Soap Bark cleansing creme, the rosewater and glycerin toner, the naturally ageless-eye creme, day creme, and night creme. The products are absolutely fantastic. Great for sensitive skin because they're natural products...no chemicals. They smell wonderful and feel great. We even use the Baby Bee line on our son who has sensitive skin. These products are very reasonable considering the ingredients. I hope this helped!

Hi! I do not sell skin care products! I'm 57 almost 58 yrs old, and people think I'm in my 40's. I attribute this to several things:

1. In my 20's I started taking Vit C and Vit E everyday. Did that for 25 yrs, then I got slack.... Health comes from INSIDE US, not from the outside in.

2. Next, I drink occasional red wine, but have never been drunk or on drugs, or smoked. I believe this contributes, also to health.

3. I don't worry! I have a confidence in God that keeps my mind clear....no, we're not super wealthy, have had our share of heartbreak, and trials. But, worry affects your lines.

4. I have discovered the past year that the PH level of water affects our skin and health. Who would have thought that!!!! Anyway...do a test strip. You'll probably find a 5.8 to 6.25 on reg tap water. You need to be at 7.0 and above.

5. Last, neither my husband or myself have had health issues of any kind since they cleared up when we found Upper Cervical in 1997. My husband is 71 and his tests just floored the MD last week they were so good. (You can learn about that at Upper Cervical Advocates or by Googling our names.

Anyway....bless you on your way to health,

I have always had very sensitive skin and swear by Cetaphyl products (over the counter)!! The cleanser is very gentle and the moisturizer does the trick on my dry spots. I've also tried the generic brands and they work great as well.

Hi C.,

I noticed a lot of recommendations for Mary Kay products especially Time Wise. Just so you know I am a consultant however I am not trying to sell you anything only offer you a free facial so that you can try for yourself. If you are like me I tried several products before I found what works best for my skin type and I ended up with lots of products that ended up in the garbage. So I just wanted to take a minute to invite you to what we call Girl's Night Out Mary Kay Style which would be a great opportunity for you to try some Mary Kay products for yourself to see if they work for you. We meet every Thursday night in Louisville if you are interested. In the mean time please visite my website at www.nancyhull.com - have some fun with the online virtual makeover!!! Hope you find the product that works best for you.

Hi- I use Oil of Olay Complete. It comes in different formulas, including one for sensitive skin. What I like about it is that it includes SPF 15 so I know I'm always going out with at least some sun protecion. It's not too expensive and it works for me. Hope you find something that works for you.

Hey C.. I have used Beauty Control products and been very impressed by them. I had a friend who sold them. They are not super expensive either. Once you find a consultant they will suggest the products that are most appropriate for your age and skin type. I found the suggestions to be right on the money, but I think they would have gladly switched things up free of charge if you ended up with something that didn't work for you. I was also given some products from The Body Shop skin care line, and I REALLY liked those as well. About the same price as the Beauty Control products. I found both brands to really make a difference in evening out my skin tone and with the skin around my eyes. Good luck!!

Hi Cyndi! I am with you on this one! It cost a fortune to be a woman! :( I feel like I have tried Everything under the sun, and have never been happy. I just recently bought St. Ives. It is very inexpensive, and you can find it anywhere. I figured that I would go back to the basics, and try something that has been around forever and is inexpensive. Maybe that will do the trick! For a basic cleanser, without all the harsh ingredients, I am using Cetaphil, but I got the St. Ives Apricot Scrub to exfoliate 3 x per week, and I got the St. Ives Collagen Elastin Moisturizer. So far, so good! I hope this helps!

Cyndi,
I Mary Kay Products - and I have pretty senstive skin. I use the Timewise line, but my mother, who also has sensitive skin uses the classic basic skin care line (Formula 1 for dry skin).

You can use the basic cleanser and moisturizer for daily cleaning but there is a whole array of products that I have had to start using as I have gotten a little closer to 40 to prevent lines, wrinkles and such.

I will say that I know people who have tried MK products and had a negative reaction to them....so it doesn't work for everyone. BUT I also know those people have been given 100% of their money back for the products they had used.

When I run out of MK products, I will use Oil of Olay and I have had great luck with that line as well.

Before starting using MK I used Estee Lauder, which was wonderful for my skin type, but I found it so expensive...I couldn't keep up the habit. IF I were wealthy...I would still use Estee.

Good luck on your quest to find fabulous skin care!

Hi C.!

I have tried many skin care products over the years that have always either made me break out or really dried up my face. The past year or so I've been trying out natural remedies on my skin and have found that using witch hazel as a toner/astringent followed by pure coconut oil as a moisturizer is amazing! My skin has never been so smooth and glowing. I even use coconut oil to shave my legs now and get no more little bumps or irritation. In terms of preventative vare for aging---vitamin e around the eyes. Hope you find some of this useful for you!

C., I also use the Arbonne Re9 and have for 5 years now. My husband often gets told he robbed the cradle...teehee! It is a great product and Arbonne only accepts a hypoallergenic rating of 0-1 on their products so it's great for sensitive skin. It's only available through Independent consultants so if you want my consultant's number I'll be happy to give it to you. Also, they have a 45-day money back guarantee in case it does not work for you. Let me know if you want to give it a try. Best of luck.

OMG! you have GOT ot check out www.sarah-noelle.com She is a lady in Cary who makes all natural skin care products. She's got oatmeal face masks and body scrubs and toners and body oils.

She was at a craft fair and I've tried some of her stuff. I wasn't really keen on the whole tree-hugger putting breakfast on my face, but I took the plunge and it was REALLY neat. She also has this stuff called "Da Balm". It's beeswax, olive oil, coconut oil and honey and it works for everything from dry skin on my feet, knees and elbows to dry lips to even dry nose (you know how the inside gets dry and painful - gross). I haven't tried any of the oils or toners but i know that the face stuff and body scrub and Da Balm is freakin awesome!

Check out her website and see what you think.

I really love the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion from Clinique. I am not sure of what the difference is, and I have never tried it, but it also comes in gel form. The lotion is very light feeling and has almost no fragrance at all. I get the large bottle with the pump (about $35) and it lasts me for about 5 months or so. As with most quality facial moisturizing lotions and creams it only takes a little. If you overdo it your skin is not greasy for days like with a few other facial moisturizers.

The price is not too bad compared to other department store brands. It is anywhere from $20-$40 depending on the size you want and if you want it in a bottle with a pump. I think both the lotion and gel are the same price.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

People that sell skin care, usually believe in it, so they may not be bad ones to listen too. I love Mary Kay, and started selling it because it works, and i could get good deals for my friends and me. Many of us use the product, and it works! Good luck and God Bless.

I have used Nicole Miller Skin Care since it's inception about ten years ago - used Mary Kay the 18 years before that...and no, I don't sell products....but the comment about those that do usually do because they really believe in the quality was a good comment.

I do work for the manufacturer of Nicole Miller's Skin care line - Melaleuca, Inc. She (NM) actually shopped from Melaleuca - loved the way they marketed their products and loved their committment to NO toxic chemicals - not true of most of the companies mentioned on this page. Oh, they are much safer - but not committed to food grade quality vitamins and no toxins - and best research.

The reason Nicole Miller liked the marketing is that by not putting the products on a store shelf (or in an MLM structure) you have higher than department store quality for the price of average skin care.

www.nicolemillerskincare.com All products are 60 money back guaranteed - no questions asked.

Just wanted to make sure your information was complete. <grin>
