Hello
I'm looking at different birth control methods and wondering about Essure, any information, experience, comments would be great.
Last time I had a Paraguard IUD and got pregnant with it, so baby number 4 is on the way, due in August, and I'm trying to do some research on the subject. This time I want to make sure I don't have any surprises, so my husband is getting a vasectomy and I want to do something also.
Any comments about Essure would be great. Thank you

What can I do next?

I would be so there with Essure and have it already if it weren't for the fact that I get eczema from skin sensitivities to certain metals including copper, nickel, and fake metals. Essure has something that would cause some problems for me because of that insensitivity to certain metals, in particular because of the nickel.

I had it done in March. It was incredibly easy - my doc does it in the hospital and they put you under. I've heard sometimes they do it right in the doctors office and don't use full anesthesia so that it can be somewhat painful - you'll want to find that out. But I was looking for permanent birth control - our family is complete and I don't want to be on the pill anymore. I have to go back in about 3 weeks to have an x-ray done to be sure the tubes are fully blocked so I'm still on the pill until they confirm that.

Also I love that it's not hormonal. I was crampy the day of the procedure, and bled for about a week afterward. Otherwise I'd never known I had anything done.

Do check with your insurance provider though - my procedure cost $9600 and my provider covered $9300...but you'll want to know how much is covered up front of course.

Had it done two years ago...LOVED IT! Super easy for me and I bounced back the next day (but milked it for three.)

Is that wrong? He could have gone and got snipped!

My sister had the procedure done in November and it went great. It was super easy to do (just done at her doctor's office) and it was complete when checked 3 months later. She is relieved to have no worries anymore.

Had it done almost 3 year ago. Very simple procedure done in Dr's office. No side effects or other issues. Not much "down" time for me at all!!

Once you have the confirmation test done 3 months after the procedure you are all set with no pregnancy worries again!

My BFF had the Essure procedure done last year and loved the whole experience. She had it done in the office and went out to eat at a very nice Sushi restaurant afterwards. She has some mild cramps the next day but nothing like her normal periods. She was back up doing the same normal things the next day too.

She went back in the recommended time frame and the doc ran the dye through and it was totally blocked off. It was a mild procedure that didn't cause her any discomfort and gives her the assurance she will nevr get pregnant again.

As for her hubby getting cut, she said why bother and waste that money. So he didn't get one. It is totally un-needed at that point.
