East Cobb is a good area of Marietta. Good high schools and middle schools. It is a hot area.

I am sure there is a place on the internet that help you shop for a home within your price range. There are all price ranges in this area of Cobb - EAST COBB Near Sprayberry High School or Lassiter High School

Good LUck

I am a teacher with Marietta City Schools. If you are looking for a public school that has a fine arts focus then you should look at homes that are zoned for Hickory Hills Elementary school. All Marietta City (not to be confused with Cobb County schools) elementary schools are choice schools with different focuses. Hickory Hills focus is art, music, drama, etc. It is a K-5 school. The school I teach at is MCAA and it is a 3-5 school. It's a science, engineering, technology and math magnet school. Kids have to be at the 75th percentile or higher in math and reading to attend. Your nine year old could apply for this year and your younger one could apply when he gets ready for 3rd grade. What's great is both Hickory Hills and MCAA are free because they are public schools and they are great places to learn. There is no need to go private if you can get in a neighborhood zoned for Marietta City Schools. Good luck with the move and I hope this helps.

See if you can get a Jan. copy of Atlanta mag. They reviewed all the private schools in the area. It really does vary by school. Hope this helps.

HI C.,

We lived in Cobb county for one year before our daughter was born. We decided to go up north in Cherokee county which is the next county up, LOVE it. I love the people, schools, great sport opportunities and Woodstock and Canton both have drama playhouses. We are from the great north too. You'll love it here. Woodstock is more like our old home town in NY. Good luck.

We moved here from from ny (upstate) as well, with a three year stop in tulsa and are loving it. From the seven years that we have been here, i can tell you that cobb and paulding are both good school districts. We are in paulding, with cobb in our back yard. Its a terrific area to raise our kids, one now 19 and went thru the middle school and high school in paulding (EPHS) and the other 11 just starting the middle school this fall. We are staying here in Georgia, loving it. Have adapted well. What the schools dont offer, the area offers it all. I beleive while its important to have your child involved in the schools clubs, it more important to have them involved outside of school as well, whether it be community service, or outside music lessons, or outside sports. Good Luck and Welcome to the area.

If you havent had a chance yet, go visit Redtop Mountain State park. Beautiful area.
