My best friend wants a stainless steel can opener for Christmas. I've been reading reviews this morning and it doesn't seem to matter if I spend $20 or $60, they all seem to be mediocre. they all seem to have as many bad reviews as they have good.
anyone out there have one they actually LIKE and use 1-2 times a month?

I like my grandparents 50 year old electric can opener. It was bolted on their cabinets and was used at least once a day (usually more often) for over 50 years.
I know. Not that helpful. BUT if any are hand held on your list or require batteries, I'd scratch them off. Bolted to the wall and plugged in is the way to go.
I have a cheap under the cabinet Black & Decker Space Maker can opener. No bells and whistles. It's a good little opener. Always works. About 8 years old.
I have the one that's hands free, the "seen on tv" one (but they're pretty much everywhere now, Walmart, Target, etc). It sits in a drawer and I use it all the time. It takes AA batteries. Easy and works great! It's 2 years old now and works great, no problems.
I have never liked any of the electric can openers that I've had. I stick to the plain old regular manual opener.
Ask her if she would like one that can mount under the cabinet or one she can unplug and put away when she is not using it. I just use a manual pampered chef one but I use to have an electrical one...can not remember which one but may have been sunbeam....get her a $20 one and put a Target gift card with it.
