Easter: What to Give My Almost 2 Yr Old Nephew in His Easter Basket?

I am looking for your ideas and suggestions for Easter Basket goodies for my nephew. I have two girls (5 1/2 and 4) who were very into art supplies. I have learned from my sister in law that my nephew isn't into the same things that I think my girls were at his age. I am not a BIG candy giver and don't want to buy a pre-packaged basket. I already have plastic eggs and some treats to put inside but feel rather stumped as to what to give him "from the bunny" in his basket.

I am thinking toys...a little gardening/sandbox set (hand rake, shovel, etc.), maybe some tatoos and/or little trucks/cars for outside. Any other ideas?

My sister in law and mother in law have always made a BIG DEAL out of Easter and been very generous. Although I need to be a little frugal this year, I don't want to skimp on his basket.

I'd love your suggestions! Much thanks!

What can I do next?

Maybe bubble bath & bath toys? Coloring books & crayons. I agree with you not going the candy route as I have the same reservations for my little (thinking ahead as he is only 8 months old and there will be no candy this year). We got some DVD's and other age appropriate toys for this year. My mom also suggested other things like tooth brush and paste for him, a little bag that he can uses as an overnight bag to go to Grandma's. Really you can put anything you want and nothing has to be candy. Good Luck and Happy Easter.

My son is 1 1/2 and we go way overboard for the holidays in my family. His Easter basket includes a toy that spits bubbles out his mouth, chalk, swim diapers, ralph lauren shorts, puma socks, a pair of flip flops, hot wheels, a leap frog fridge magnet (you match two pieces to the animal and it has sound effects), bath toys, a simple puzzle, different self feeding utensils for this stage, ect. I use my Easter basket from when I was a child as a tradition for my son and it's quite large, but I like to use other things to fill instead. This year I saw a cute little wagon that the child can pull at Taget and I thought that would be cute to fill. Another thing that I NEVER use is Easter grass! It's such a mess and I would rather spend a little more money to give a gift that gets used. Usually we put a beach towel in the bottom and we always have plenty of towels for the summer then. My mom has also used unique "blankies" in my son's basket for grass. Good luck and have fun!

When my kids were smaller, they always got a book, bubbles, a toy or 2. I think the sand pail and shovel would be great and then you can put in a book or somehting else. I don't go big on the candy either. Gotta have some but mine are not baskets full of candy.

I think any sort of outside toys are good. Chalk, bubbles, things to play with in the yard, balls, cars. Books are always good too. I honestly don't think it matters how much you spend, it really is the thought that counts. Happy Easter!

Hot wheel cars, egg -shaped or regular chalk, seeds for planting, bubbles, a story about Jesus or about the Easter season or a child's prayer book (golden books has a nice one), summer toys, seasonal beanie baby or web-kins. bathtub paint or small bath toy, fun sippy cup - sometimes they have glitter that floats in it (I bought two really nice ones a couple years ago, from the Disney Store).

Very thoughtful of you.

Hi,
I have 2 boys and when they were younger they were into monster trucks, lego, and match box cars. Tattoos are also cool! Anything outside would be fun, bubbles, chalk, balls, shovels, plastic bugs, swim stuff, sun glasses. Books and stickers are good too. We also make our eggs make noise by putting coins in for their piggy banks. Another thought might be a fun shirt with a pair of shorts.
I'm sure he will like whatever you decide.
Good Luck!

I like all the other ideas. Also, a sturdy little boat for using in the wading pool.
