Hello Mama's! My question is concerning irregular cycles and detecting pregnancy. On average my cycle is 35 days with everything else being normal. I was due for a period on Feb. 18th and had nothing but some very very light dots today. Mild cramping with it as well. The preg. test was negative. Since I have odd cycles, wouldn't it take longer to detect because my fertile days are 14-20 days after start of period, pushing back implantation dates too. My thought is that this is implantation, but I could be wrong. I also have been battling a yeast infection for a couple of weeks now, only taking extra probiotics and yogurt/coconut oil. Any thoughts or suggestions?

What can I do next?

I would have my doctor check the infection--medication would be faster (or do you have a reason for NOT using medication?) and it could be a different kind of infection. If you are still having intercourse that could cause the spotting/bleeding combined with an infection. I never had implantation bleeding and if your cycles are irregular, you might not even be late. I had some cycle issues last fall and was missing cycles altogether (going six weeks with nothing) or having very heavy bleeding for several weeks at a time. If you don't get a regular period, I would definitely re-test in a few days (I'm an over-tester!), but you'll clear up much faster if you get to the doctor for your infection. Yogurt is great for helping your body NOT get infections, but I don't know how well it works to treat them.

I recommend the book "taking charge of your fertility". You can though temperatures determine when you ovulate. You can even determine if you ovulate and therefore can better know your body and where you are in your cycle. You can know all kind of nuances of your cycle through taking morning temps. As for yeast infection, I don't see any reason why you can't treat that with over the counter drugs and get yourself some relief.

I second Mitzi. Implantation spotting is rare and hardly noticeable when it does occur. It is very difficult to conceive with a yeast infection, especially one occurring for weeks. Sex with an infection can lead to spotting. That said, of course you could be pregnant, there is always that chance after sex! If not, go and get a basil body thermometer. These are wonderful for irregular periods. Good luck!

Yeast is killed by putting a good quality organic non sugared yogurt on a tampon and inserting it in your vagina. Change the tampon placing yogurt on the new one every few hours.
This method has been in use for over 35 years and it works. The medication the doctor gives you isn't all that good for your system. It can open you to other kinds of infections.
This isn't a "home remedy" we used it at the women's clinic where I used to work.
As for the cramping it could even be caused by the yeast infection.
