Hi J.,

My son had tubes put in, adnoids & tonsils removed. I think it was the best thing we could have done. He no longer snores and seems to get better sleep. He is talking a LOT more. His teachers say he has been different in school...pays a ttention more. I REALLY recommend doing it!!

Two of my children have had the procedure done multiple times. On has had the adnoids. It is harder on the mom then the kids. I strogly reccomend having it done. It eliminates many other problems that could occur later on.
At the age of 22 I had it done. Because I had so many infections as a child and still get them as an adult I have a tremendous amount of scar tissue wich has caused some hearing loss. Do it now and get it over with. Both of my girls thought is was cool to be treated so special for the day.
Good Luck

My daughter had her's done around the same age. It went very smoothly. She wasnt in any pain at all after the surgery. She only had her adenoids taken out and tubes put in though. Good luck!

My son has had several surgery. He had tubes put in his ears 3 times and has to do it again. He also has his adnoids and tonsils removed. It is a very common procedure. Don't worry everything is going to be ok.

I have three children and my last two both had tubes put in. One 2 years ago, and the last 2 months ago. It was like a miracle. No more infections and the surgeries were a breeze. Little bit of work coming off anestesia (lots of crying) but no pain involved. Both my childen had speech delays because they couldn't hear well from perforated ear drums due to the frequent infection. Within weeks of the tubes, their speech really took off.

My son had ear tubes put in when he was 18 months old. I was nervous about the surgery. However, the ear tube surgery was really fast. (I am not sure about having the tonsils and adnoids removed). He had constant ear infections and would cry a lot at night. The ear tubes helped so much and made a huge difference. He tubes stayed in about 1 1/2 years. Good Luck. I will you and your son well with the surgery. I would be happy to answer any more questions.

J. - I have an (almost) three year old and he's had tubes four times so far. It's a quick and relatively painless procedure that takes about 5 minutes to perform. My daughter had tubes (just once though) as well. I'm actually thinking of getting both of their adenoids/tonsils out as well since there are extremely large and they both snore very loudly. As for the tubes, the procedure is a cinch and there is very limited risk. Worth it to prevent ear infections which are painful and can cause speech delays and hearing loss. Good luck!

J.,

My youngest son had tubes put in at 7 months and it was the best thing that we could've done for him. He is now 6 and does not have any issues with his ears.

My oldest son had his T&E old when he was 9 and although is was a tough recovery (for about a week), it was something that needed to be done. He is much better off now and has essentially been strep free....They saw the younger they are, the easier the recovery.

My son just turn three. His been having hear infection since January. He gets sick weeks at a time with fever going up to 105. The antibiotic don't seem to help for along period of time. I want to an ENT and they said he might have to get the tubes and remove his adnoids. if he does get it done, is it very painful?

I personally had this done about 20 years ago. I remember it, and it was fine. The nurses made sure that I had fun during my stay. I don't remember being in any pain or anything.

I think if needed then go for it..Recovery at his age shouldn't be that difficult. Is he having speech difficulties? Or just hearing issues? I say go for it, it will be okay. It may be difficult maybe the first week.

my daughter had tubes placed in her ears in December and they help her so much since it was such a huge part in her not being able to talk.
