Yes always did in me. It was also in the tonsils. I had to have tonsils and adnoids both removed.

Yes, ear infections often cause swollen lymph nodes. Lymph nodes contain lymph, which is one of our bodies defense mechanisms. Lymph nodes are located near our main blood vessels and in the neck they are often detectable. They can get very tender, so if your little guy seems irritable, you may need to discuss the need for a stronger anti-inflammatory/pain medication with his Pediatrician.

Good Luck and God bless!

My son often had swollen lymph nodes with ear infections....but he also had many sinus infections with them also. I'm not sure how the three were related.

I don;t know that an ear infection can cause swollen lymph nodes but swollen lymph nodes means that his body is fighting an infection somewhere. Have your doctor check him out to rule out strep.

The swollen lymph nodes could be from the virus that is causing the ear infection. My son has had so many ear infections...every time he would get a cold. The lymph nodes behind the ears will get swollen though. That's how I know my son has an ear infection.

HAVE THE PEDIATRICIAN CHECK OUT THE NODES!!!! I was diagnosed with Lymphoma (Hodgkins) a year and a half ago after finding a swollen lymph node.

Yes, ear infections, sinus infections, etc. all cause swollen lymph nodes. And, in 95% of cases, it is the body reacting appropriately to infection. But, where they are swollen is important. Mine was in my collarbone area - no one suspected cancer until the biopsy came back.

I don't want to scare you - chances are, it is not something for which you should be concerned. But, if it's a large node, let your pediatrician be the one to assess how serious or not it is.

Good luck!
