I think it is akin to drinking their bath water.
They all do it.
Just put fresh water in the pool every time he uses it - no chemicals/chlorine and he will be fine.

Happy "swimming"

I never did find a solution at that age. By the time kids are 3 or so, you can tell them, "Don't drink water that your butt has been sitting in!" - but that doesn't make much of an impression on toddlers. ;)

My son did this last summer. Glad to hear he's not the only weird one :)
I offered water and discouraged the pool, but it never worked much! I think it's pretty normal for this age.

My sister and I used to drink pool water, our bath tub water (gross, I know) and it didn't hurt us.
I think it's a pretty typical thing.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Heaven only knows how much water my kids ingested in our hot tub. It happens. They are perfectly fine and healthy.

Best wishes.

Take out the cups.

But if he's just putting his face in, don't worry about it, he'll be fine.

Its a phase.
Its a kiddie pool, right?
So no chemicals or chlorine in it?
Should be fine.

A kid this age, has NO fully developed impulse-control.
