Double Stroller Recommendations - Crystal Lake,IL

I am torn between which double I should/need to get. Here's the jist.....

-Currently, we rarely use the stroller except for long day trips, vacations, and a few other times - however, I need something that I can lock dd (3 y.o) into when I need her to sit, buckled, and not run around or away from me
-I want something fairly lightweight
-Easy to push
-Has to have a great sunshade, good storage basket, and a parent organizer
-Has to hold an infant carrier
-DD's pretty tall (already 40 in) and most of the ones I am looking at are only recommended for up to 42 in or around there and 40 lbs. Will that really be an issue?!

I was almost sold on the Joovy Caboose Ultralight, but now I'm worried that it might not be good or comfortable enough for her and even the baby once he's sitting in the front?! She can't sleep in it, which is not a huge deal b/c she never would on a day to day basis. But we do go on vacation 2-3x a year and she won't be able to sleep in it unless she's in the front and we're carrying the baby.
I don't want to spend a ton b/c I have no idea how much use we'll get out of it. But, on the other hand, I don't want to buy something cheapy and we end up using it a ton and it's not so comfy for both kids. So, IDK?!

I was looking at some of the joggers and now I'm wondering if I should go that route or, for me, if it would be overkill since we 'really' won't use it all that much.
Also looking at the City Mini Double, but don't really want to spend $400 on on b/c I have no idea if we'll get use out of it!

Gosh, I'm so confused! Any recommendations would be much appreciated!!

What can I do next?

I just bought a Joovy Caboose Ultralight and I love it! I bought it used off of craigslist, the gal said it was 2 yrs old, and it still works great. My son is 3 1/2 yrs (will be 4 in Aug) and my daughter is 7 wks. I don't think the height thing would be an issue. No there really isn's a place to rest for the older one, so far the only con I've found. It does have a belt/buckle for the older so you could strap her in. A good friend of mine has a double jogger for her two boys and after seeing her use that, using it a little myself and then using mine, I would recommend the Joovy. The jogger turns better and rides a little smoother, but the joovy is narrower so it is easier in stores and sidewalks.
Good luck, let me know if you have any other specific questions about the joovy.

PegPerego side by side (about $329.00). We have the same issues, you do.... need to purchase a seperate parent organizer though.....

I have the Joovy Ultra light purchased one year ago. I really like it. Its much nicer than other sit-n-stands I see, by design and style. My daughter is 2.5 yrs now and tall. The front seat is a little small in the leg room area, but she prefers to sit now, riding looking at me, but she is still buckled in to a 3 point harness, 5 point up front. I got the double, even through I only have one kid. its great, light as a single and now when we go out with friends we only need one stroller!! The kids like riding together . If u get it, be ready for your friends to ask to borrower it for zoo trip!! P.S. I purchased a camo like pattern so it wouldnt show dirt, because I already trashed the Pink stroller. I was very surprised that brother and Dad didnt mind pushing a "camo" stroller or a neutral color.

I dont have a recommendation but you might want to check your local Craigslist for a used version of the stroller you decide on.

Hello M.,
We LOVE IT-city mini double stroller
city mini double stroller-I want something fairly lightweight-weighs 22lbs-the lightest one available
city mini double stroller-Easy to push-the easiest double to handle
city mini double stroller-really simple to open & close - lift with ONE HAND
city mini double stroller-Has great sunshade, 2 reasonable storage baskets (bottom & back),
NO parent organizer (it's at least $30. added accessory-they have lots of accessories to buy)
Has to hold an infant carrier -Don't really need one-our baby is secure in recline position secured with a head bumper-newborn and up; holds up to 100 lbs-We have a Maxi-Cosi infant carrier from when our first boy was born, but if you have to use one, with a bar adapter they fit the following car seats (from their Q&A website): Baby Trend Expedition, Baby Trend Flex Loc, Baby Trend Gabriella, Baby Trend Stride Sport, Baby Trend StrideZ, Britax Companion, Cosco Sprint, Eddie Bauer Adventurer, Evenflo Aura Elite, Evenflo Embrace 5, Evenflo Embrace LX, Evenflo Journey Premier, Evenflo Nestino Odyssey, Graco Infant SafeSeat Step 1, Graco SnugRide, Graco SnugRide 2, Graco SnugRide 32, Graco SnugRide 35, Maxi-Cosi Cabrio, Maxi-Cosi Mico, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30, and Safety 1st Designer 22.
Our older boy is 37 inches and we tried him out in the store first for comfort-DD's pretty tall (already 40 in) and most of the ones I am looking at are only recommended for up to 42 in or around there and 40 lbs. Will that really be an issue?!
When you don't need it anymore, sell it on Craig's list, for at least half what you paid, (I think it is the fastest selling double) and you'll still have the best double jogger for half of $400.
Check it out!

I have a 3yr old and a 14 mth old girls. We bought both the Baby Trend Sit N Stand Deluxe stroller ($167) as well as the Baby Trend Double jogger ($200). The Sit N Stand is nice and light weight. It can sit either child in front or back and if they sleep the chair reclines. the weight goes up to 50 lbs each child so this is helpful. The only draw is the wheels are the general small wheels. If we go for long trips or the zoo I prefer the double jogger. It is nice ride and reclines and is the only jogger that holds car seats that doesn't cost more than $600. Depending on what I am doing as to which stroller I use. I purchased both new, but you can certainly find some good buys on Craigslist like my girlfriend did when she bought hers. Good Luck!

We have a Joovy Caboose.
Love - the kids fit in it great...my son is almost three and still fits just fine in the front. my daughter is almost 6 and most often doesn't need a stroller except for those long walks downtown, but she is 46 inches/45 pounds and still fits fine in it.
Hate - the size of the storage underneath is minimal. my daughter wants to sometimes be in the front....this does not work! The front does not steer well at all with larger kids in the front, so I think it is only good 'til your youngest gets to 35 pounds.
My oldest did fall asleep a couple times when she was first using it at 3 in the backseat....we just used the umbrella cover and pulled it back around her to keep her in...not the best solution, but it did work.

I love our Uppa Baby Vista. Can use it as a single, double, or even triple stroller, with the piggy back board and rumble seat attachments so it can last you through all the stages you need a stroller. It is pricey, but has great resale. High weight limits, steers so easily, good sun canopy, great storage, folds compactly, sits up high off the ground. I can't rave about it enough.

We borrowed my brother's Joovy Ultralight for a weekend to test it out and it did not work for us for some of the reason you mentioned. Girls were not comfortable, minimal recline for front seat so my youngest could not nap, no back support for oldest so she could sit back and relax, large street profile, steering was ok, but not great.
