I have a high-needs Beagle (meaning, he HOWLS when we leave him even to run to the store)...we are taking the family to Disney World at the end of June (we are flying)..and I am wondering if anyone can recommend a reliable dog boarding place in the East Dallas area. He is very smart and can get away from someone VERY easily..and if he thinks we have have left him for good, he will (no doubt in my mind) try and escape..so, I need a very secure place for him. I don't want him crated/caged the entire time we are gone either. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. (heh, I am not sure who this will be harder on, him or me :)

What can I do next?

I've boarded my dogs at Cottonwood Animal Hospital and been very pleased ###-###-####). My dogs are NOT escape artists, so I didn't evaluate the place based on those needs. I like it because they take very good care of the animals, and they have a fenced in yard. So, the dogs are allowed out of the kennels when time permits to rome the back yard. This is important to me because my dogs aren't used to being contained to leashes.

Just a thought: there are lots of hotels that allow dogs now. Have you considered taking him along?

Good luck!

I am not sure if the location works for you, but, I have two places we board our 11 year old basset that I would HIGHLY recommend....but, they are near the downtown/uptown area of Dallas. If you are interested, let me know. But, it may be too far for you...?

thanks!

I have a very good pet sitter. She is reliable, and very trustworthy. This won't provide him constant companionship (she works during the day), but he will have the comfort and familiarity of your home. She complies with whatever I request (walks, meals, any medications, etc.) and usually spends an hour to two hours with my dog in the evening. She has on occasion stayed over at our house when I requested, to keep our dog company.

Here is her contact information - Veta McCoy ###-###-####.

There is one called Highstone Pet Lodge by Inwood and 35 close to where all the hospitals are. Harry Hines? My dog used to go to doggy day care there and they have private suites that I thought were very reasonable. The private suites include a nice padded bed, a TV so he can watch animal planet and Disney and it is enclosed glass suite so they can keep an eye on your baby plus lots of room to play and run around with other dogs. My dog Buddy loved daycare there then we got another Lab to keep him company.

J.D. Kennels in Rockwall (or near there). I've never personally used them but know many people who have and loved it. They let the dogs out several times a day to run in an open pasture with a lake.
