Does anyone know if peanut butter goes bad if the lid is not put back on? I went to make my daughter peanut butter toast for breakfast this morning only to find that when my husband made her a PB&J the other day he forgot to screw the lid back on the peanut butter. I decided to make her something else since I was unsure of the status of the peanut butter. I am hoping it is okay since it is a new jar however I do not want to risk the health of my family if it could be bad. Thank you!
if it was sitting out and open for a couple days, i would scrape off the top layer (there's definitely dust in there now, even if you can't see it), but then the rest of it should be fine!
it's always been fine for me and my husband and son do it all the time.
Should be fine as L. as no bugs got in it (although even then it should probably still be fine, lol)
I'm pretty sure its okay. My dad leaves the lid off all of the time.

no...it will be fine unless you have bugs (ants, roaches, etc)
