Donald Trump appears to be doing well, albeit controversially. Could he actually win the 2016 presidential election? He appears to be in the lead in the current polls.
We get posts all the time on Mamapedia from frustrated parents whose kids act up just to be the center of attention. Usually we advise each other to ignore them and not respond to their BS.
Sometimes those kids grow up to be millionaire bombastic idiots.
My guess is that he will offend too many people between now and the major primaries, and then he will act like it was his idea to quit the race.
Although I would adore the chance to watch either HIllary or Bernie rip him to shreds in a debate! The guy can't answer a single question without going off topic to say how great he is.

Considering that Obama is still president and that Hillary even has a chance with all the lies and damage she has done, then I would say yes he does have a shot at winning.

Now that he's directly offended the entire hispanic population and all veterans/veterans' families (and indirectly many others)? It's hard to imagine how he could win.

He's a joke. A scary joke with money to burn, but c'mon he just came out and attacked McCain. I thought McCain ran a horrible campaign in his last run and I will never forgive him for unleashing the Palins on the world but really, you're going to come out and attack and disrespect a war hero?
But honestly, he's fabulous for Clinton. The Republican nomination process was a circus before he joined and now's he's just driving the whole circus to crazy town. Really if this keeps up all the Democrats have to do it just sit back and watch the Republican party implode on itself, again. I don't know why the serious, intelligent Republicans who truly believe in small government and fiscal and/or social conservatism but aren't loony don't just reject them all and re-form the party with some sane leadership and people who can actually get elected. The visible leaders of the party are whack jobs and idiots, obstructionists and make a mockery of the democratic process. Surely there are better candidates out there!

I'd like to say no, but unfortunately the dumbing down of America is working and the public is just that stupid today. I'm hoping for a trump/Palin ticket, because if you're going to promote asshattery, at least go big or go home.

No way in hell. Not with the jackass comments he's making. He is NOT doing well. He either needs to grow up and be more respectful with his comments or get out of the fray. There are ways to make your point without being so blatantly stupid and offensive.

Sure! Why not? The country elected Obama the first time when he had no experience then they elected him again when he had a lousy track record.😉

Considering the pack of clowns that the GOP had produced this far, he just might get the nomination!
This will be because the GOP candidates are already turning on each other in a feeding frenzy that has already weakened the Republican Party to the point that there is no O. "strong" candidate or front runner.
I really pray that he is the GOP candidate.
You can't buy that level of entertainment!
ETA: Oh, I forgot. IMO? He'll never win. Cause he's a douche!
And he can't even run a business without declaring bankruptcy, what? 400 times?

Who knows. Obama screwed us for 4 years and America was stupid enough to put him in for 4 more years. If people were stupid enough to elect Hillary after all of the damage she has already done - I wouldn't have any faith left in the people of America. I mean really.
There are too many people in the GOP pool right now, but who knows. I think he is speaking what a lot of people think, but don't have the balls to voice.
ETA: I can assure you he hasn't offended all veterans/veterans families...nor all of those who came to this country legally.

I highly doubt it.
I can't imagine any politician would work with him.
He's like a bad reality tv show that desperately needs canceling.
The way he shoots off his mouth lately he's certainly doing his level best to piss off everyone.

If Obama can get elected twice (I still shutter with disgust) then of course Trump could win.
I think a lot of what he says people are thinking but won't say out loud for fear of being called a racist.
As for the field of GOPs. I'm thrilled. I like the fact that I have as much choice as I do. The "establishment" decides who will be the nominee. It should be the people.
I actually feel sorry for the Dems to have the choice of Hilary and Bernie. Yikes! Bad and worse

He's a joke, a disgrace, a publicity hog, and a douchebag. He's an embarrassment.
He's so out of touch with real humanity, I hope it's an act because if it's not, that's just sad.
And it depends on the polls - I'm sure there are polls where he's polling high, but there are others where he's probably polling at the bottom where he belongs.

i have to hope not. we became a laughingstock to the world when george w bush got elected (well, and appointed.) we can kiss goodbye any chance of being a world power who is taken seriously if that clown gets elected.
and i don't think he will. i think conservatives, even tea party-ers, are ultimately smarter than they appear most of the time. surely there's a good, viable, sane, adult candidate lurking out there. somewhere.
but then, the media keeps referring to bernie sanders as 'unelectable'.
the democratic system we keep trying to impose by swordpoint is becoming more and more ludicrous here at home.

Did I miss something up here in Canada?? I thought Trump withdrew from the nomination due to his negative Mexican comments. And further, it's reported that's why El Chapo escaped, to go after Trump for the anti-Mexican comments.
Seriously, is he really still running? I better turn on CNN

It's really too early to tell, and the field is SO overrun with GOP candidates that Republicans' ears are ringing from all the noise.
Trump appeals to a lot of people because he isn't a politician, despises the establishment, doesn't care about being PC, and isn't owned by lobbyists. Trump is the honey badger. He doesn't give a f***.
If you're wondering where you stand based upon the candidate's voting records and platform, check out isidewith.com or ontheissues.org. Both have quick quizzes which ask where you stand on the issues and match you with candidates based upon their voting record and beliefs.

Anyone that runs has a chance. He appeals to the middle more than anyone running, Republican or Democrat. Just watch, both sides, the polarized fringy sides will take offence to that comment. Well now they won't because I said that.
Thing is I am sure there are better people out there and I hope they run.

Last week he was, in fact, leading all Republican candidates. But there are so many of them that I think he was only at 18%.
One of the annalists (can't remember who) said that what will probably happen is that the other candidates will be watching Trump and paying attention to what he is saying that is resonating with some people right now and begin to implement parts of his message.
I don't know. Say what you want about Hillary, but right now she's only running with a few other candidates and no one is talking about them. The Republicans have 15 candidates! They are going to spend so much time fighting each other that whoever wins is going to have a huge battle trying to beat Hillary.
I'm no annalist, but I do think Hillary has a pretty good shot and Trump (who runs every four years) is about to use up his 15 minutes.

I'm a swing voter that leans republican (socially liberal which most republicans should be but rant for another day). If Trump wins the Republican race I may just become a card carrying democrat.
