Does Anyone Have Any Experience with Sarcoidosis?

I have a friend who told me on Thanksgiving that he had been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis. He is in Stage 2 & doesn't have medical insurance, he works at Luby's. He is going through the county hospital for treatment & they are sending him to a specialist but not until March! Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. I told him that I would ask a "Great group of Moms that I knew would have some advice." Thank you so much!

My dad was recently diagnosed with sarcoidosis. In spite of his being a physician himself, it was extremely hard just to get the right diagnosis. His is quite advanced and his symptoms are pretty severe. They started him on steroid therapy which seemed to help at first but then messed up his blood sugar so drastically that it made him clinically diabetic and caused a whole host of other problems. He is still on the steroids, and coming off VERY gradually.

I thought I would pass on though that he has recently improved dramatically by following something called the Marshall protocol that he found out about online. I think it is somewhat controversial. My dad is not usually a controversial medicine kind of guy, but is pretty brilliant with figuring things out, and after a lot of research, he decided that it might actually work. It's helped him so much that he is going to go back to work soon.

I don't know all that it entails, but all of the information my dad used is online - they have a website I think marshallprotocol.com. Hope this helps some!

I don't have a lot of information for you but my husband was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis about 5 years ago. He was put on a pretty serious regimen of steroids for about 6 months. That pretty much took care of his problems and hasn't had a flare up since. I know this is an autoimmune disorder that is something he will have for the rest of his life but hopefully it will stay 'away'. I don't know if that helps at all but good luck to your friend.

My husband's twin (age 40) does. If you have some specific questions I could get them to you. Just send me a separate e-mail.
