DOC Band Decorating

Hey - good lucky with the band. It will seem like it is on forever, but in the grand scheme of things it really isn't all that long. Our little girl had to wear one last year - unfortunately, I can't remember the specific name of the shop where we had hers painted but I can tell you it was a children's store in the Shops at Legacy (in Plano) where they have a lot of custom children's stuff. If you look on the parent's message board for Cranial Technologies, you will likely run across the name since that is where we got it from. Also, some friends of ours just had to get the band for their little one - I know they used Star Cranial and they had theirs decorated at a place called 360 Wraps (they may actually do this for free, I'm not sure). Anyway, good luck again!

I know that SpeedPro Imaging in Fort Worth makes cute graphics for them. My son had his band for 9 weeks and we just bought stickers for it. That way we could change them out for different events/themes.

My oldest son had to use a DOC band, and we decorated it ourselves. It was pretty easy, and very affordable. I wrote about it on my blog. You can check it out here...I put pics and step by step instructions.

My daughter had a body brace last year, made form same material. We went to Michaels and she picked the stickers that she wanted. We used clear address labels to "seal" them on. It worked well. As they lifted we just put a new label over top and it kept them from peeling off. You can not see the label once they are stuck down.

We just used stickers, too. I talked to a lady at the doctor's office once who had her son's painted camo and she said yes, it looked cute, but she had already painted it over again 2 or 3 times because the paint kept peeling. That's why I opted for the stickers. A few started to peel off in the back, since my daughter still was only laying on her back and not sitting up yet, but I had extra stickers in the package, so it wasn't a big deal. Good luck decorating, it can actually be a lot of fun! =)

I didn't have my daughter's painted, but I put stickers on it and made it look REAL cute. Warning: Don't use a clear acrylic to try and seal it thinking it will keep the paint or stickers in place! The fumes were so bad that she had it off for 3 days! :) oops! Anyhow, the back of the helmet stickers peeled the easiest so you're best to decorate the front and sides. I replaced a few over time. There is a place in Grapevine Mills mall that does airbrushing. That was my first idea for my daughter's helmet - I know they do football helmets. You might want to try them. ?? Good luck!
