Do You Re-use Dry Pull-Ups?

My 3YO has been waking up dry about 50% of the time. It seems like a waste to pitch a dry Pull-Up. Have you re-used dry Pull-Ups? How many times? Are they as absorbent if they get peed in the second night?

I understand that Pull-Ups are like underpants and I'm not talking about re-using them for an eternity. Just once or twice more?

What can I do next?

When my kids started to be dry MOST of the time, I would put undies on them and then put the pull up OVER the undies when they would sleep or when we would leave home. That way the pull up didn't even touch their skin and I would reuse them, the same one for up to a week if no accidents!!!

Michelle:

We have a friend who will be 11 this year and still has problems with wetting the bed. We re-use his pull ups until the "stretch" is gone...which is usually two or three wearings. Since he's 11 - they don't have a great absorbency for him - but Depends are TOO big for him....

they are too expensive to waste. Reuse as much as you can!!

If it was bone dry and not stretched out....I re-used it at least one more time.

When she was able to go several nights without a wet pull-up, we went to underwear and bought a lined pad from Walmart for $10. It was in the same section as incontinence pads and Depends for adults. It is washable and quite large for a child. I've only had to wash it twice and it saved me from having to change the whole bed. :)

I did. We got the ones that fade when moist so I wasn't concerned about lingering bacteria if I knew the pull up was dry.

Yep, I re used them when they were dry and I only used them for the night time so it's not like they got "dirty," you know what I mean? Heck I used a re-used pull up for a week at least. They tend to get ratty looking after that but if the darn thing is dry, why not? (I used them longer than a week as long as there were no accidents, but that is me, I had no problems saving money that way. If my kiddo had an accident in them, even a dribble, I threw them away but not if they were dry.)

I didn't. Even wearing them for a while still leaves a slight pee smell (for us anyway). I think I reused one once b/c it didn't smell at all.

I use them a second time sure - those line indicators tell me if he peed in them at all. If they're slightly faded I may not reuse it. But if the pull-up is bone dry, yep - I use it again the next night. So long as they're bone dry in the morning, they're just as absorbent as they were the night before.

Congrats! my son (almost 4) has not had a dry one in a while.

I used to re use my son's pull ups when he woke up dry. What I would do is when he woke up dry, I would re use them for nap and then if they were still dry at night again. after 2 nights, I would then pitch them because they were kinda crumbling by then. :) once he started waking up dry more than 3 nights and naps, we quit buying the pull ups because he was pretty much fully trained then. Good luck!!

I am getting ready to start using pull ups on my 3yo and yes i may use them once or twice more if they are dry. i guess depending on how in tact they are. if they seem loose and stretched out around the legs, then no... this is a good way to save money!

I use them 2 times if dry normally 1 day, for nap and bed time and then they get pitched

I never did because my kids are wild sleepers...so the "stuffing" would be all moved around even if they didn't wet them.

I will usally reuse them once but after that they are too streched out I am afraid if he pees it will leak.

I didn't. I never bought the fancy ones with the color indicators and since they are so super absorbent you couldn't really be sure that they were totally DRY or whether they had just peed a little bit.
But then I really only used pull ups for out and about backup anyways, in bed we did undies and absorbent pads - I credit this method with night training my DD at the same time she was day trained.

I don't use pull ups, but I do re-use diapers if DD woke up dry. I figure it was on her after a bath so it's the cleanest she was all day!

I use them all the time. They only wear them a few hours and are clean when they put them on. I think it is silly to waste them because they touched the skin for just a little while. If they are not used they are perfectly fine to use again.

I always did, but just a few nights maybe 2 because more than that the pull up would feel hard.
