Do You Make Your Bed Every Morning? JFF

I never make my bed unless we're having company and they'll be coming into our room. I start work at 6:30 am so I'm literally rolling out of bed and rushing around trying to get ready. Now, when I was younger I did make my bed daily but as life has gotten busier I've abandoned that prractice. However, I do make my daughter bed. I guess because she sleeps with us and so she isn't in her bed much plus if her door is open her bed is visible from the entry way.

So do you make your bed everyday?

What can I do next?

I wish we all did - it makes a huge difference in how the room looks and even my stress level. But no. Like you I start my day at 630 and work until 330, and then run around with the kids before I get home to make dinner and then start on my MBA classes after that. There is no energy left to make beds :).

All beds are made. Every day.
I honestly cannot remember a time when all of the beds are not made.
I'm a little fanatical about it, can you tell?

I just prefer the bedrooms to be neat every day.
I can't imagine getting into an unmade bed. Makes no sense, really I know--it's unmade the second you get in, right?!

Nope -I don't have time and I'm not going to make time in my already hectic mornings. I doubt I've made my bed more than three times in the last 20 years! Guests can't see it.

yes, i make my bed every morning. change the sheets once a week.

make my kids make their beds too...the room looks sooo much neater that way...

And after my girlfriend whose house was burned - i like the idea even more of keeping the house picked up (which she did) so if Firefighters or rescue crew need to come in - they aren't fighting clutter!!! especially bed covers thrown on the floor! LOL!!!

I dont make ours every day and I was thrilled to hear on the John Tesh show that not making your bed is a good thing because dust mites and bedbugs thrive on made beds. They said your bed needs to breathe after being slept on all night. I puff the pillows and keep the bed covers rolled down unless I have company. The sheets stay fresher longer I've noticed.

Either hubs or I, daily. We sleep with a duvet, not any effort to fluff pillows and get the duvet flat. I had given it up when single, he got me back in the habit of doing it. Makes the apt feel tidy. Makes the bed more inviting to get into.

I am not home when Kris rolls out of bed. I have been out of the house for at least 45 minutes. With that said...I still wouldn't make the bed.

I don't consider it a priority, some days I'm pushing it to get a load of dishes done! If that gets done, I have a good day!

ETA: on the rare occassions that it is made it's not made the "classic" way. Cause we use separate blankets...apparently I have blanket hogging issue.

I cant remember the last time I made it. I change the sheets weekly, but still don't usually do more than the sheets. I will throw the quilt or blanket across the foot of the bed after changing the sheets.
I always say that the sheets need airing from body oils, sweat, whatever. That's my excuse.

No. I never make my bed. I HATE going to get in bed at night and I have to un-tuck everything. I want to walk up and get in!! We also don't have any pillows other the ones we lay our heads on. I can't stand tons of pillows. Our bedroom is the last bedroom in the hall. No one has cause t be down there, I don't even bother when company is over.

No. Don't have time. Don't make time.
It DOES bug me though.
I used to always make my bed.
I hate walking into our room and having our bed unmade.
I try to semi-make it later in the day.
Makes me feel better and less "cluttery-looking-feeling".
Aww the good ol' days when my house was immaculate.
Wouldn't trade it though for the pitter patter of little feet, the messy hugs & the toys strewn about make me realize I have a happy child. :)
I do have to straighten up the living room, the kitchen and the toys/shoes strewn about. Or I would go crazy. :)

kinda sorta not really LOL every night we have to redo the fitted sheet and mattress pad because the sheet doesn't really fit my mattress (I have a 24" thick mattress ... good luck finding sheets that fit ... only one place had 'em and they were $200 for a regular 4 piece set ... yeah ... I think not) so it pulls off a bit while sleeping and brings the mattress pad with it, so that has to be fixed to sleep in it.

Other than that .. the ONLY time I make the bed completely is when company is coming. same with kids beds. Just gonna get 'em messed back up when it's time to sleep or if a nap gets taken ... so why bother.

Yes, every day. I don't always put all the extra pillows on the bed to make it "pretty," but I do most days. I can't stand getting in an unmade bed. And, I can't stand walking in my room if my bed is unmade. I just feel that the day hasn't started out right. How can I insist that my children make their beds if I don't lead by example. To me, as a woman who is in the home all day, it is so important that we have order and tidiness. If one thing starts to go, the rest follow close behind. It's a mind set for me.

Not lately!

My bathroom is downstairs, my bedroom is upstairs, and my knee is in a brace. Lately... I often go upstairs only once a day, and downstairs only once a day.

My bathroom is downstairs. I get up, do the suicidal shuffle in reeeally steep stairs down to the potty, and I'm downstairs to stay!

Really, I don't have an excuse, though. I have fitted sheets and a DUVET that I wash every week. Grab. Loft. Done. 5 seconds of easiness.

Oh wait! Hahahaha. I DO have an excuse. My arm is in a sling. So funny, I hurt my knee before my shoulder surgery so I haven't even thought of it. I CAN'T make my bed! Not with one arm.

So excused by a doctor's note!

At some point in the day I straighten the covers back on. But I like to leave them pulled down some so the bed has time to air out some each day. Our bed does get made at one point though because the bedroom is also my husband's office and he puts things on the bed and I hate going to bed and finding a headset tucked into the sheets LOL
I hit the floor running after the kids so making the bed isn't a high priority. Maybe after I've had a couple cups of coffee and no one is bugging me that breakfast isn't coming fast enough and diapers are changed and I finally get the energy to go upstairs again it gets done. No one sees the rooms, they're all upstairs.

I cannot stand to leave the sheets/covers all crumpled up. Of course, I don't crumple them to start with, but hubby's side is like that. When I get up, I just fold back the covers, get out, turn around and unfold them back up. That's pretty much all it takes. I have to straighten hubby's side out after he is up, though. But his side is on the bathroom/closet side of the bed, so usually one trip through the house to put away laundry or use the bathroom, and I'll just fix his side as I walk past.
I don't do a "formal" making of the bed (pillows with the quilt tucked around them)... I have a quilt and matching shams, so the quilt is pulled up neatly, the pillows are fluffed and the shams go on top/in front of the pillows. That's it. Takes about 60 seconds, total.

I don't make mine, and my kids don't make theirs. I'd rather be able to make an awesome breakfast and take a walk in the morning than worry about something that will not be seen by anyone but me.

Hardly ever. I'd like to get in the habit though. But my husband works nights, so I wake up, he comes home and goes to bed 3-4 days out of the week, so what's the point? Who am I kidding, it was never made before he had the night shift! ;-) Maybe if I had pretty bedding that matched. Our bedroom has always been the hodge-podge of mis-matched furniture and bedding. :(

It's funny I was just thinking of this question yesterday :-)).

I like my bed best when it's made so much more comfortable when I get in at night. But right now I sleep with 2 small dogs and a puppy who's getting big. They usually jump into bed before me and lay down either on the folded back sheet and blanket and that makes it hard for me to get in and cover up.

I make the beds on the weekends. Hubby makes the beds during the week. I doubt it's first thing in the morning but it's done when I get home from work. He has often joked that if I showed up from work 1/2 - 1 hour earlier on any given day, the house would be a wreck. But he takes the time before I get home to clean it up, vacuum, do dishes, etc. It's pretty nice!!

No, I don't....I'm usually running late and rushing out the door! But, I do have to "straighten" the covers on the bed every night before I can get back into in and go to sleep. The hubs is a messy sleeper...LOL! I have to straighten the sheets and pull them tight, then pull the comforter back up top and fold it down before I can sleep. I guess you could say I make the bed every NIGHT!
