No, I don't have them. I wouldn't even respond to this except that a coworker and I just finished a conversation about vanity plates. Nothing creates more of an eye roll and heavy sigh in me than a lame vanity plate-lol. I really strive to not be judgmental, but seeing a vanity plate on a car just makes me assume that that person is not getting enough attention elsewhere in their life or are too into their material things.

I walk or bus everywhere when my husband isn't home. Never wanted to drive. My backside *is* my 'vanity plate', ha ha!

If I'm going to pay for any "vanity" it will be a massage or facial, not some plates that go on my car :) I've never much been into "look at me," I guess...

I don't, but the best one I've ever seen was on a mom's minivan headed down the highway to Florida about two years ago. She had the little stick figure family sticker of her family of five or six, and they were all kneeling in front of a cross, so obviously a religious person -but her tag read:

SXY T8TR

My friends and I have laughed and laughed (not in a mean way -just because it was great) over Miss Sexy Tater! It was
awesome! I figure it's probably her husband's pet name for her.

I just saw the WORST plates ever the other day. I huge, lifted white Ford truck with plates "GR8T WHT" really? ugh. so dumb. I hate vanity plates. especially ones that reiterate what kind of car it is, like "EXCRSN" - like I couldn't look up and left 8 inches to see the name of your car if I really wanted to know.

No, I don't have them, because I'm cheap and won't spend the extra $$.

However, I do like the funny ones...only the funny ones. I can't stand the one's that state what kind of car they are driving, or how spoiled they are, or their names....pure ego to me.

Also, while in AZ, I looked into the plates that support kids...but research told me that very little of the $$ goes to actual organizations. It's better to give directly to an organization than to buy those specialty plates.

I used to until I became a SAHM. When I was in college I had one that had to do with my car. After college, I got an IU plate. When I quit working my husband didn't want to pay the extra $, so now I have a regular plate. When I go back to work, I'd like to have IU again.

I don't, but I'm always thinking of things I would get if I did!

There's this teeny tiny little old woman who is known in this area because of her teaching... she used to teach and VCU and is an extraordinary and brilliant English Lit. professor. I didn't know her until I bumped into her at the gas station one day. She grabbed my arm with my tattoo sleeve and says 'This is beautiful; The Secret Garden is and has always been my favorite'... I was thrilled she knew what it was supposed to be, and flattered that she said something! Then I saw... her license plate says SCRTGRN... I MEAN, WOW!! :D

No I don't because I don't feel it's safe. I try to keep my vehicle as non descript as possible so as not to become a target. Some of the stuff I see on cars shocks me. I can look at a car and find out if the person driving it is a single mom (those stick figure stickers), how old her kids are (stick figure stickers, honor roll, principals list etc. stickers), which neighborhood she lives in (some of the neighborhoods in our city require parking stickers) and what activities she and her kids participate in (scrapbooking, MaryKay, soccer, hockey etc..). Not to mention I live in a largely military area. There's a good chance if you're married, your husband is out to sea. That just makes you even more vulnerable when your car has a sticker that says NAVY WIFE. If I can figure that out what more can a criminal determine? If I got a vanity plate that would just provide more info. Though we live in a safe city why be stupid? I don't leave my front door wide open just because I live in a safe city so why make myself a target while I drive by having all those "tells" on my car?

Yes, I have them. Since I am a breast cancer survivor, for Mother's Day, my husband ordered the Va state breast cancer plates for my van. I personalized them with "I ONE". I wanted "I WON", but it was already taken so I just used the play on words.

Yes, I have my first name and last initial. It is easy to find my minivan in the parking lot (among many minivans). A car thief is not going to steal it--too visible and if one does, it will be easy to find. I have had it for many years and no problem with strangers saying hi to me, though I sometimes point it out to people joking about not losing my car. But then I am not a young foxy lady looking for trouble (or not). I don't go out at night much alone. I had someone warn me against using my name a long time ago, but I ignored her warning and did not have any problems and don't expect to. My husband and son do not have vanity plates but they do have specialty plates which support a cause or make a statement. Each to his own.

I'm 44 and I've had personal plates since I was 16. They have all had my real first name with something else. Currently it says "IM---". LOL! When I get my red corvette I'm going to have something stupid like "HOTMAMA" or something. I like them but not if I can't figure them out!

I have never had them until last year. We went to 7 digits and our plates in Texas got UGLY. So last year I got one that is extra money but it has a cute little horny toad on it and says keep Texas wild. I didn't go the full distance and get my own little saying because I don't really have anything to say. ;~)

YES I DO!!! I've had vanity plates since 1996...when we came back from Germany...

There are a ton of Grand Caravans in Patriot Blue on the road - I wanted to set mine apart from all the rest....MOMY MOBL (mommy mobile) in my car before I had kids - I A BRAT....

For me? it had nothing to do with material things or wanting attention...there are just sooo many cars like mine on the road...

I don't right now but it is because I have not come up with the perfect tag line yet.

I plan to when I come up with what I want. I have a very nice high end sports car convertible that would be great for vanity plates! Actually plate, because I refuse to drill a hole in the front of my car to put a plate on it.

Yes. Got them when I was 16 for my first car and just kept em. Easier to renew than change them.

Oh I would love to
I drive a huge conversion van, black. So I would have --- DRTH VDR

Even my friends say "Kinda hard to lose Darth Vader in a parking lot."

My dad's would say MTHSFN -- Math is fun, he's' a math teacher.

My son's says GOBOBGO, we call the car BOB-bucket of bolts

I just saw a VW today <3 MYMPG They used a heart symbol, obviously they get better gas mileage than Darth Vader.

In VA the price for vanity plates is very reasonable and we love trying to decipher them. I think it's fun, just havent' gotten around to it yet.
