DIY Picture Framing

I have several pictures to frame and know it can be expensive. There is a Great Frame Up nearby that has the do-it-yourself option and I wondered if any of you have used this. Is it in fact less expensive to do so compared to a place that handles the same framing job for you? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've found the Great Frame Up to be expensive even with the coupons they send out. I would try Hobby Lobby. If you want a standard size frame they will frame it for you with a mat, hanger, etc. Just make sure you shop when the frame (or custom frame) is 50% off. If it's not on sale this week it will be next week.

My parents have a frame store in Arlington Heights. They have been in business over 35 years. They have a do it yourself option. It is cheaper.

Hi Susan,

I am not sure if you already looked at this webpage from the website http://www.diynetwork.com/decorating/how-to-professionall...
(I think this website is so helpful. I just love it!)

This would mean totally doing it on your own and I know you are asking about the store called The Great Frame Up, but I thought I'd share this with you just in case you want to consider this option.

I've used pictureframes.com, which is ok except that they don't ship glass. but they do have very good quality plexiglas that they give you instead. The other work-around is to either buy pre-packaged frames or, if your pictures are odd sizes or you want something a little different, you can get a place like Michaels or Hobby Lobby to custom cut some matting for you.
