Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you are divorce/know divorce lawyers. Me & my husband are at that point unfortunately & need to seek a lawyer. The problem is we now live in Canada & got married in the states. Do any of you know if we have to get divorced in the states or can handle it from Canada. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I doubt that you can get a divorce in Canada. They are a different country entirely and have a different legal system. The two legal systems are not connected.

I suggest you pick a name from the phone book under heading of family law or divorce lawyers and call them to ask.

You need to contact a lawyer in Canada and find out their laws for divorce.

If you are both still U.S. Citizens and in Canada on work visas, I doubt the Canadian court system would proceed with U.S. Citizens divorce.

if either one of you is a Canadian citizen, then yes. You can divorce there. As it involves one of their citizens.

I'm sorry your marriage is over. It's sad. I hope you both feel you have done everything within your power to make it right.

I found this by googling "Divorce Lawyers in Attleboro, Mass"

Why not just call one, see what they have to say. Being that you are an American citizen, it would make sense to use an American lawyer.

If you and your husband are in agreement about everything, then you could probably do most of the paperwork yourselves.

Sorry you are going through this. Divorce is hard even when you want it.

Americans residing in Canada can get divorced in Canada. Call a lawyer in your province for a consultation, then consider your options.

Good luck!
