We always get the latest edition of "Unofficial Guide to Disney World". It gives in-depth descriptions of the attractions and "touring plans" that help you plan out your day so that you spend more time on rides and less time waiting in line.
What are the must rides at disneyworld? I am trying to map out our days at the parks and was told to have a map of rides and seeing as we have never been I don't know what rides to go for. We all love the thrill and speed and just pure fun. ALSO, I have just found out that Universal Studios has the new Transformer deal and my son LOVES transformers and we would love to take him, but with that we are staying in Disneyworld and I have priced the cost for us to go to Universal for a day. I have purchased water park tickets for disneyworld but thinking of taking those out and using that money to go towards Universal. Would it be worth it or am I asking for a headache?

Disney has four theme parks in Orlando- Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. You can visit more than one park per day if you buy a PARK HOPPER TICKET. The thrill rides are spread out over all of the parks --Space Mountain is in Tomorrow land at the Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain is in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom. Mount Everest is at Animal Kingdom. Rock and Roll Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror is at Hollywood Studios and Test Track is at EPCOT. Other favorites not to miss are the Toy Story ride at Hollywood Studios and the SOARIN' ride at EPCOT. Learn about FAST PASSES and get those early in the day for some of your favorites. If you are staying at a Disney resort, you will also get special magic hours and have access to the parks early or late (vs the general public)
If you want to go to Universal, check on transportation with the concierge or contact a transport co. Universal has two parks- so buy the correct ticket. If your son loves Transformers, you might want to go. There are a lot of other rides at Universal too! Look at the official Disney site and then also some of the other Disney sites. Have fun!
One park a day. Get a map of ea h park. Start and work your way around in a logical order. Do not run Around you waste time and it is tiring. You cannot collect fast passes. You get one, use it and then get another. Sometimes, in my opinion, it is not worth it. Universal depends on the ages of your kids. You g ones, not much for them. Teens enjoy Universal. Only time I like Universal is for Halloween. Horror Night is absolutely amazing!!!!
Epcot: Soarin' is my absolute favorite ! Test Track is great, too !
And....Mission Space ! There r boat rides in 2 of the countries.
Animal Kingdom: The Safari (awesome), Dinosaur, Expedition Everest,
Kali River Rapids and Primeval Whirl
Magic Kingdom: The electric parade is just beautiful !!! It's a Small World,
Space Mtn, Big Thunder Mtn, Pirates of the Carribean
I went to Typhoon Lagoon instead of Universal due to the heat when we were there.
Check out the fireworks schedule...
You can get 1 fastpass at a time. So, we grab a fast pass and visit another ride. Then, go back to the ride depending on the time.
Animal Kingdom closed at 5pm when we were there! The park was much less crowded between the hrs of 3 to close. We went on Exp Everest 5 times in a row just before the park closed!
we are going to disneyworld and universal next week. We put an app on our phone from wdw and from touring plans to help us navigate which rides to do when.
I was last there in 1999 but my family has not been there. I do know having a plan is the best plan of attack. we are doing universal because the kids love harry potter.
We did not to the waterparks at dw because we wanted extra time for other things.
I did get the suggestion to do epcot first so we are doing that monday. Have fun.
Many blessings
There's a great book called the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World... has a great suggested itinerary based on your family/preferences. I'm not sure if they've revised it since Disney opened the new Fantasyland, but worth checking out. We followed the suggested itinerary for families with little children and never waited in line!
We went to Disney a few years ago, and I can't remember much other than Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, both at the Magic Kingdom.
We did not stay on property, but once we got there we would get recommendations from staff members and just hear things from other guests. One tip we got was to go straight to the opposite side of the park. The lines are usually shorter there, as most people begin in the front of the park.
Also, since you are staying on property, you could spend a few minutes talking to a staff member at your hotel. He/she will give you lots of tips about which rides fit your interests and what time of day they usually have the shortest lines. They can also explain the "Fast Pass" to you and how and when to use it.
I don't really know anything about Universal, sorry.
Enjoy your trip. Try not to worry too much about getting on the right ride and just have fun.
We loved Universal in Orlando (sorry to say-probably better than Disney for the older kids-who like the roller coasters and don't need a whole story to get on a ride). The Harry Potter area was great-the Hulk ride was very good. We did the Transformers ride but in California and it was good but they didn't want to do it again.
Oh-the spiderman ride at Universal was excellent too-we went on that over and over.
I would cancel the waterparks and do Universal in a minute (but we live in Wisconsin which has a ton of waterparks in the Dells so).
Must do at Disneyworld is tough-my kids are older and only liked a few-there was the Aerosmith roller coaster and they liked the Yeti ride in the Animal Kingdom. Test track was good too.
We did Disney one year and then went back and did Universal and Sea World the next. I think it would be alot to do them both at one crack. But when we did do Disney, we stayed for a week but rented a car and got off site to do some other things just to keep the sanity. We went swimming with the manatees and indoor skydiving (thanks to Groupon-great deals) and my hubby was pretty glad to get off the grounds for a bit.
Have fun no matter what you do!!!!
