Hello all,

I have recently just had our second child. I have started back to work 4 weeks ago and have been working out the past 3 weeks. I will work out 3-4 times a week. I have been told that i would start noticing a change in my energy levels after i have been doing it for a couple of weeks. Well I am still tired and not seeing anything. Do any of you know of a diet pill that will help me out in losing the weight and having more energy? I don't want to spend a lot of money. I am wondering if this is because i had 2 kids back to back and did not have time in between to get my body back in shape before i had another baby. Any advice would be great!! :0)

I also had 2 kids back to back (14mos appart). I have had good results with Stimulant X. You can find it at www.cheapvitamins.com You don't need to take as many as they recommend. Definately only start with one and be sure to eat before you take it. It also makes you thirsty so keep water on hand. (I've lost 30 lbs just using these).

Kudos to you for jumping in and trying to lose that weight. C., I have been in the same boat as you -- my son is now 2 and still struggling daily. Everyone -- or most people I know preach wonderful things about Weight Watchers, but who has time to go to meetings, and count points. I guess what works for you is what you need to find. But what I have recently started doing is taking Hoodia. It does work. I picked up some at Costco about week ago and it really has made all the difference. And I have tried several things out there - but didn't want anything not natural, and especially didn't want something that would alter my bowel movements, or give me that racey, jittery feel. The other thing that I have noticed, and I just started this week and it really has made a difference -- is I am writing (very quickly) at dinner time everything that ate down on a piece of paper and not exceeding 1200 calories. That is hard to do - but I understand that is the magic number you need to be at -- or at least that is what I am doing. The bottom line as much as we all hate to admit it is, portion control and exercise -- and from what I hear -- it will come off - -it just takes time. I, like you, wanted to shed weight before trying for our 2nd child...and we are ready to try again...soon - so, I am stead fast using that as my inspiration. Because I guess with each pregnancy its gets harder and harder. Some people just have a great metabolism and their bodies bounce back, some of us take longer. So, I highly recommend the Hoodia......be careful of those diet pills. I took phentermine -- it works NO DOUBT! but I gained it back when I pregnant -- and it gave me chronic fatigue after taking it. Those things are addictive; and I noticed especially that after taking it for a little while (maybe 3months) that my body grew a tolerance to it as well. So, none of that stuff can be taken forever.....I worry too, that some of that stuff alters or slows your metabolism after you take it....or at least I feel that way now. So, this time I am doing the all natural thing as much as possible. Hoodia just curbs the appetite and for me -- it does work.
Best of luck, keep me posted on how you are doing...

There's nothing wrong with diet pills, but saying that you "recently" had a baby, I think you owe it to your body some time to get right on it's own.

You know from the first one how your body is in shock from the pregnancy and birth, let it calm down for a few more months and then revisit the need for pills. It took me a year before mine would let go of the extra pounds and then it just fell off, I now weigh LESS than I did before my pregnancy, with no real diet or excercise program. Your body just needs a little bit of time to re-evaluate what's going on.

It's done a lot for you lately...... give it some slack! :o)

I don't think a diet pill will solve your problem. To lose the weight you also need a good diet to go along with the exercise. Also, you may need to continue taking that pre-natal vitamin for a while. As you mention, having two kids close together is draining - physically, nutritionally and emotionally. Don't be too hard on yourself. You might also want to have your thyroid checked. Like yourself, I worked out steadily and did NOT lose the weight, despite a good diet, etc (and this was over a period of months/years and not just weeks). It turns out (and I didn't learn this until my baby was over 7!) that I'm hypothyroid.

Be well,

My first question would be, are you nursing? Obviously this is a determining factor in the diet pill question, and how many weeks post pregnancy are you?

I am a pre/post natal exercise/yoga instructor. It can take more time to lose the pounds with the second, but if you are really tierd I would not recomend a diet pill. Most of them put LOTS of stress on the adrenal glands and long term this could make you feel worse. If you are not taking your pre-natal vitamin still, you should start that up again. There are many herbs that you can take to help boost your energy and support you adrenals. Red Rasberry leaf is great for hormone balancing and very gentle and supportive. As far as exercise ifyou would like I could send you some print-outs with exercises to help with restoring your body after pregnancy. If you are having specific trouble with you core or (belly) there could be other reasons for that (beyond the need to lose weight). You could have a seperation in the Abdominal Recti Muscles. This is not that uncommon in a 2nd pregnancy. Despite what some profeesionals think this may be restored with exercise (I have seen it myself). However it does nee to be restored in the 1st year after the birth of you baby. After that the body will begin to turn to normal and the ligaments will harden and the muscle will stay seperated until the next baby. It is not as freaky as it may sound. if you want more info let me know. I do have post-natal classes in Southlake and Flowermound. I also have a free one on Saturday mornings at my church in Southlake.
Some excelent resources are "lose your Mommy Tummy" and "Maternal Fitness", by Julie Tuppler RN. I use many of these exercise and versions of them in my classes.

I started a program called Isagenix. It is all organic and herbal. I got back to my pre pregnancy weight very quickly. You basically replace two meals with organic shakes and eat a healthy 400-600 calorie meal i between. THey also have a cleanse drink and natural accelator capsules. I also love thier bars and Want more energy drinks. My friend who sells it said that Roy Williams and some of the Dallas cowboys are on it because of this special drink called Ionix Supreme. It helps with energy , focus, and mental clarity.

I have tried all kinds of things and this one really worked for me. If you want more information shoot me an email and I will get it to you. Good Luck.

i had two children close together, (they are only 15 months apart) & my body has taken a long time to recover. sometimes i still feel very tired, & my sex drive has just started to come back, (sorry if that was tmi). i try to eat well & exercise, i think it does take time, & longer than people like to think. esp. here in america where lots of women go back to work less than 2months after having a child. keep taking your prenatals if you have any left, or get another good multivitamin, & give yourself time. if you really are just feeling drained all the time, you might want to talk to your dr.

Hey C.. I take Andrew Lessman's Energy and Fat Metabolism vitamins. He often sells them on HSN, but you can purchase them over the internet. Just do a search on Andrew Lessman Vitamins. They are mild on the stomach, and don't make you jittery. You can get a 2 week supply for around $9.99 I believe. That's not too much to try them out. I love all his vitamins. They are in capsule form and they are so much easier on the stomach than anything else I've tried. You should also think about getting on a good woman's multi-vitamin. This will help with your energy too. Not sure if you're still taking the pre-natal's, but he also has alot of other vitamin products. If you're working out and still tired, it could be you aren't getting all the vitamins you need in your diet. Check it out! I love his stuff! Hope this helps. Let me know:) God Bless!-M.

For the people who say not to use diet pills, those are their opinions but honestly lots of them do help. When I needed to lose weight I took phentermine and I lost some weight which then motivated me to work out and then that motivated me to eat better. I lost all the weight and kept it off for years until I got pregnant and now I'm trying to lose the weight without it and it's been 18 mos and I'm still trying to lose it. I wish I had those pills still but since I only need 15 lbs my dr. won't prescribe them now but I will probably end up keeping those 15 lbs and then have another baby and be more over weight after that baby, then maybe I could get the phentermine. It does work, I don't blame you for trying to get something, you just have to find the right one for you. Good luck

You didn't mention whether or not you are nursing, but if you are, I'd wait to use any diet pills. It takes nine months to gain the weight and almost as long to lose it. There aren't any quick fixes. If you do work out and keep to a sensible diet then it will happen. It just takes a while. Give yourself permission to be tired too. My kids are 4 and 2. I'm 43 and I'm always tired. That's part of being a mom, unfortunately. LOL I've always been thin and it took me at least 6 months to get back to my normal weight and energy level. I wish you all the luck in the world.
