At 6 weeks, it is a vaginal sonogram.
I, with both my pregnancies, had that at 5 weeks.
I saw the heartbeat each time.
I saw the 'baby.' It looks like a little gummy bear.
:)
And yes, they print it out for you to take home.
Hey mamas,
I have my first ob appt tomorrow morning and I am feeling kind of nervous. With my past two pregnancies I was always scheduled for the first ultrasound at 8 wks and we have seen our babies just fine. But now with this one scheduled at six weeks I am wondering if it is possible to not see the baby? Do they sometimes have to go vaginally so early? I guess I just feel nervous bc this pregnancy just kind of snuk up on us but now of course I really am excited and I want to see my baby! I am ready to share the news with others but I like to wait until I have that ultrasound pic before going all the way public you know? So anyone who has experience with this, I would love to hear it! Thanks..
Thanks ladies! Well after all that, she didn't do an ultrasound today, she just confirmed pregnancy and is having me back at 9 wks for my first ultrasound. So I will see my lil peanut then with no problem :D

I had one at 6 weeks with my second child only because I had had a miscarriage before that, so I was paranoid. They did a regular belly ultrasound, not a vaginal one on me, and I could only see what looked like a little grain of rice. I could barely make out the heartbeat, but it was there so that was good enough for me. I would imagine with a vaginal ultrasound, you would be able to see it much more clearly but at 6 weeks, it really isn't much of a baby just yet. With my first child, my first ultrasound was at 12 weeks, and it's amazing the difference in growth from 6-12 weeks, she looked exactly like a tiny baby I could make out everything just fine. I hope this helped, good luck!!
I saw mine at 6 weeks 3 days via an abdominal ultrasound.
I had a sono at 5 weeks and it was vaginal but we could see the heartbeat. I was a little nervous about it being vaginal since with my 1st pregnancy- 1st sono ever was vaginal and the nurse actually had me hold the instrument for her while inside of me! Luckily with my second baby I chose a better location and all went smoothly!
Yep I had mine at six weeks, it was vaginally and she looked like a tiny gingerbread man! In fact that's what I called her till the next ultrasound. I still have that pic!
It looked like a kidney bean at 6 weeks. I thought I was 7 weeks but they informed me that I was only 6.
Yes, there will be a tiny "peanut" there! The biggest thing is that they see the heartbeat which is detectable by 6 weeks gestation by ultrasound. You will do great! Happy baby!
I got my first ultrasound @ 6 wks. YES!!! YOU CAN SEE YOUR BABY!!! It looks like a little alien, with a big head and small buds for arms and legs. What's fascinating, is that you will be able to see their heart pumping!!! This is truly a miracle from God. Relax and enjoy your ultrasound.
Congratulations, Take Care, and God Bless........
I didn't have my first ultrasound appointment with my son until 9 weeks and even THEN they did an internal/vaginal ultrasound. For a baby that little, it's likely.
I think you can definitely see a little shrimp-like thing at that time.
Enjoy your pregnancy,
T.
Yes, i saw one of my babies that early, and yes, they will have to go vaginally with a full bladder. Very uncomfortable. But sometimes they can even get a tracing of the heartbeat :)
Congrats!
I saw my first at 6 weeks and he looked like a little blob with arms, legs, and head. Yes, they had to do it vaginally with the wand. You'll definitely get to see it!
you might see a tiny little "bean" as suzanne said. but you should be able to hear the heartbeat at that time! bring a tissue becuae i know i cried when i first heard it, and i know many others that did too! good luck and congrats!
I had an ultrasound @ 6 weeks - not vaginal - and they looked like black eyed peas. :)
You should be able to see the baby, it will look like a peanut or a little blurry peanut lol. I had mine at 6 weeks and they can definitely see the baby at that time. They will also give you a picture!
Good luck!
Yes, you should be able to see a tiny, little bean. And they will most definitely do a vaginal ultrasound. Congrats!
