Sounds like this little girl is ready to be potty trained. My daughter did this too and it wasn't long and she was going potty in the bathroom.
Yay!! Another milestone about to happen!!

I have a friend who is having trouble with his 21mo old daughter. Three times now she has removed her poopy diaper while alone in her crib. She hasn't played with it, thankfully, but has removed it. She has also done this without having wet, but he didn't catch it until she had fallen asleep and wet the bed. I am not sure if she is wanting to potty train, but I am unsure as to the advice to give him. Maybe you could help...Thank you

Oh my does this bring back memories. My daughter did this all the time at bed time too. I used those pajama sleepers with no feet and would put them on backwards and zip them up the back. Never had an issue again. However I also started potty training. She was trained in a week. Good Luck.
I would start potty training. She obviously does not want to sit in her poopy diaper and will probably be very easy to train! Good luck!
I have three boys and they have each done this. One even took off the diaper and peed on his brother's bed. Stepping on a diaper in the middle of the night is not the greeting I wanted. I had one play in the mess too. She is plenty old enough to start potty training. I take my 15 month old into the bathroom with me to show him that we go in the potty and to associate the word potty with the act. Kids have to be parent potty trained first. Which means they rely on their parent's to tell them when they have to go, rather than expecting them to go on their own. He can start potty training and if she is ready she will immediatly catch on, if not just keep it up and keep showing her. Some kids undress in the back of the car, some pull their shoes off, and some take their diapers off.
This happened to me! They say it's a sign that they're ready for potty training, but my son didn't potty train for a year after this! I put him back in onsies. He never tried to take the onsie off to get to the diaper. I've heard of other people duct taping the diaper on...GOOD LUCK!
Is she wearing something over her diaper? My daughter likes to take hers off if she isn't wearing any pants. My song (older) also did it when he was that age as well. It was more of the case of boredom alone in the crib rather than waiting to potty train.
Maybe he can try having her wear some pants, and if he's already doing that then maybe a pair of underwear or plastic potty training pants might help the problem. They'd help keep a snug fit around the diaper, so the diaper might be harder to take off.
I know exactly what your friend is going through. My now 2 1/2 year old used to do this right around the same age as your friends daughter. What I did was put Pampers Easy Ups on him and a onesie that was smaller around the legs. That way he wasn't able to reach up under the onesie. This worked for quite awhile. What my daycare did to keep him from doing it during nap time was put a small piece of duct tape over the tabs. Tell your friend that this is just a stage that her daughter is going through. They like to be naked. Good luck!!
my daughter did this a few times but i just made sure she was in shorts or something for her naps/bedtime. it stopped.
also,,, i ALWAYS check on my kids before i go to bed to make sure they are covered up etc. if he checks on her often after she falls asleep and before he falls asleep then he might catch that diaper being off and then she won't sleep thru the night with it off and wet the bed. that is IF she is taking the pants off as well as the diaper ..lol lol i'm thinking a pair of pants/shorts will work..
My sister did this...she discovered it was neato to fingerpaint with the contents. I truly believe that some of that is just curiosity over what she can/can't do yet. Discovering what happens when they have that feeling down there. She may be ready to start introducing potty training too, but I'd make sure he knows that she may go through ups & down of interest to no interest.
My sister went from taking her diaper off (and playing with it and it's contents) to stripping herself and her entire bed at night.
