So my daughter is starting a rash on her face, took her in.....
They said that she needs a sulfur wash and promiseh topical cream for 2 weeks to moisture the skin. NOW IT IS WORSE.

They are treating her for seborrheic dermetitis. She has more of a brake out.
I have discont the wash per pharmasist opinion. Now getting a new med. for
face wash. I have invested money of this other wash...... this is getting expensive.

I was putting aquaphore ( which I love ) on it for the past 3 weeks prior to the derm. seeing her.
That seemed better then this routine. Granted it has been 2 days, but not seeing any improvement.

HELP.

What can I do next?

Cetaphil...can't say enough about this product. It is formulated around the most sensitive skins and they have products specifically for dermatitus (restoraderm lotion and bodywash) among other things. It even cleared up my psorisis outbreak after a couple weeks. The problem with dermatology and rashes is they can only guess at the cause without doing a biopsy of some kind and even then it's not exact.

Seborrheic dermetitis is different than typical acne or rashes as it is fungal based and can be treated with antifungal or anti-itch creams. If these measures don't help, your doctor may prescribe topical corticosteroids, antifungal medications or a combination of the two to treat stubborn patches. A common course of treatment includes a daily regimen of ketoconazole (Nizoral) and desonide (Desowen) applied to your skin. Prescription oral medication, such as terbinafine (Lamisil), may be an option if the condition affects a large portion of her body.

If her skin condition isn't consistent with the diagnosis, than you can seek a second opinion for a treatment that will work. Here is more about it so you can read up on exactly what it is:

Three pediatricians told us to use baby oil or vaseline on our baby when we had hard water and she had eczema. It became cracked and bloody. The dermatologist told us that was the worst advice and he called them.
We switch to only baby soap on her privates, let her air dry, and used cetaphil. She totally healed.I trust my dermatologist.

I later had two strange moles? appear on my privates so I went to a female dermatologist. She was the one who biopsied them and rechecked to make sure nothing came back. I did not realize how skin cancer can show up in the privates. It was something else, but I am cured

My husband went to a couple of doctors, not dermatologists. They could not figure out the rash or how to get rid of it. He biopsied it, prescribed the right meds, then later rechecked it. A different rash appeared which did not require antibiotics. We switched detergents and made sure to wash his brace. He is fine now too.

:0)It is painful to watch a child suffer. I would keep in touch with the doctor if you don't see change.

Have you tried just washing with Olive and castor oil? Sometimes these washes take away too much of the skins natural oils which of course make the rash that much worse. I use the Oil cleaning method myself.

Not all Dermetologists are equal, some are good, some are not. Sometimes it takes a search. Make sure they are listening to you and doing everything they can, sometimes drs have a tendency just to get in a rut and not think about the patient but what is more likely and common.

I've seen a simple spray of collidial silver help with skin problems. It needs to be at least 14 ppm. I figure if Burn Units around the country use it for their burn victims, it is safe. It is used to keep bacterial infection from the burn site.

My son has chronic eczema and you would not even notice with the advice from my Dermatologist. My son gets a rash on his cheeks which escalate to small pimples. She prescribed derma smooth which cleared it up a a couple of days. Once they heal, make sure to put an emolient cream such as Cetaphil. I've spent money on the expensive stuff and Cetaphil emolient cream has worked wonders! I tried Protiopic cream (made it worse) and another steriod cream. The derma smooth works and lots of moisture after it heals daily. I hope this helps! Please remember that these rashes are mostly caused by allergies to food.

Sounds like a problem with the doctor, not the entire profession. Have you asked her pediatrician for a referral to a pediatric dermatologist?

My daughter has a rare vascular tumor and her dermatologist has been essential in identifying what it is, going through treatments and referrals to other specialists in the field.

K both my daughters had this rash on their faces and I went to 5 different dermatologist before one of them finally got it right and gave us the right meds that cleared it up in about a week. So if that stuff they gave you hasn't worked yet then it's not seborrheic dermatitis. It doesn't mean your dermatologist is bad but he just isn't sure what the rash is. I can't remember what my girls rash was called sorry. So let me ask you what it looks like? If it's like my daughters I can tell you the creams they used and you can ask your dermatologist for those creams. So my daughters was a rash around her mouth and around her nose. It was small clusters of red bumps. Some of the bumps almost looked like little pimples. And one corner of her mouth had a little bit of dry flaky skin on it. So if this is like your daughters let me know. I know how irritating this can be.
