Deciding to Stay Home

Hi everyone,

My husband and I have decided that we would like for me to quit my teaching job to stay home next year with our 3 year old son (and hopefully I will get pregnant with #2 soon). I am super excited about this but also worried about finances. I will still need to bring in a little bit of income to help out with bills and such but I am not sure what to do or where to look. I thought about looking into working at a MDO so my son could come too, but I don't know where to start. Any ideas/suggestions for what other SAHM's do to supplement income would be great!

Thanks,
W.

Check out my website at www.makemoneyonline.tonoftips.net. It has a lot of things that I do to supplement our income.

Since you have experience as a teacher you can check into online tutoring or tutoring in your area. You can also score tests online. Here is an online tutoring website http://www.tutor.com/apply

If you are a good writer check wordgigs, textbroker, and bright hub.

You can always try your hand at blogging. I am part of a great program that teaches you how to make a passive income with blogging. I have been joined for over 1 month now, and have already started to see a little bit of earnings. I have also learned so much about websites and how to monetize my blogs. You do have to pay to join, it $20 a month, but I haven't seen anyone who didn't think it wasn't worth it. if you would be interested check it out at http://www.thenicheblogger.com/amember/go.php?r=3549&...

You could also check into daycare in your home. You don't have to do it full time just find a kid to watch part time depending on how much money you need. Doing it part time will also give you days with just your own children and days to get errands done.

Check out the forum at workplacelikehome there are a lot of great leads for work at home.
If you have any questions about any of this I would be happy to answer them.

Congratulations on your decision :) You will LOVE it!
I left my teaching job over 5 years ago to be home to raise my children who are now 6 and 4. I help other moms supplement and replace income. Our team is a great support! I have replaced my former teaching income several times over and work part time flexible hours from home without having to leave home or have home parties or stocking products etc.
I love what I do and would be happy to get you some details so you can determine if it would be a good fit for you. You can request info at workathomeunited.com/jobs or email me at ____@____.com.
Blessings to you :)

W.,

If your son is in a MDO program you could substitute. It is a great way to bring in money and control your own schedule. There are days when substitutes must be certified to cover a class. I am subbing this year due to family demands, but hope to have a full time position in the fall.

M.

First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth (off of Henderson and 5th St.) have a wonderful MDO program. My son went there for three years and my mother-n-law has taught there for five. She has mentioned several times that she is ready to retire (again) and that this year will be her last, so that she can take and pick up my nephew from Kindergarten. I know that they would likely hire you in a second, seeing as you are a teacher. Enjoy your time at home. I am so jealous!

I don't know about any openings, but I have heard two employees exclaim about how great it was to work for Costco. And, that includes getting full time benefits for part time people - and better than average pay for those jobs.

Hi there, not sure if you are looking for a resource to get linked in to MDO or child care/teaching style of job, but there is a job bank specifically for child care providers located at http://campfirefw.org/CampFire/ChildCareProfessionals/Chi...
Looks like there are some fun options too!
Best,
