Day Care Gift Exchange - Gender Neutral

My day care is doing a Christmas party on Thursday, and each kid has been asked to provide a $10 gift that can go to anyone. The kids range from 2-7.5 and are a mix of girls and boys. I took my kids to Wal-Mart and they were tired so we left without buying anything, but it was tough! I had picked up a play-doh pack thing (a big machine on sale for $10) but that was all I had. What else can go for those ages? I don't want to get one kid a big play doh toy and the next a movie, so I'm just not sure. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much! We ended up getting a big play-doh set, and two different Crayola Color Wonder sets....I think one was a glo-doodle. Wal-Mart had them all for $10 each today!! YAY!! Thanks for the great ideas!!

The medium sized lego kits are good. Lincoln logs. Hmm...those are good for anyone (I loved MINE when I was a girl and my boys love them now) but they are probably more than $10.

Lots of good idea here....

think board games. Memory, Uno Moo, Connect Four.
a medium size floppy dog
hot wheels

Also, RiteAid has their toys 50% off with their discount card. There are lots of toys there for $5-10.

Books could be an option or a gift card and then the parent can help the child decide what to buy. I know they probably want a gift to open instead. Maybe a board game? Candy, stickers? They should give you a specific age range (meaning what ever grade your child is in.) How about markers, crayons, coloring books???

Bath toys, paints, foam, etc. Walmart also now has many little bath toy kits in all the popular characters for $5. That's what my son is taking for his preschool class exchange, but their limit was $5. You could add a bath puff, some bath fizzies, etc. in a gift bag.

I think you should offer the suggestion of next year DRAWING NAMES! That's what I did with my daycare kids. It's MUCH easier to buy for a specific age and sex! PLUS, I'd have each child make an "idea" list so if any of the moms or kids were lost on what to get, they could check the list by the door for ideas.

FOR THIS YEAR:

Foam (type) bath letters/animals/etc. that stick to the tub. They dry fast. And don't get all dingy and yucky. I saw a "bottle" of them at Toys R US last week for $6.

Or some sort of puzzle, game, or activity set. I wouldn't do a gift card..... Then the child has nothing to play with at the party.

What about a gift card to McDonald's ? Those are great ages for going there and playing on the playground. Books, art sets, movies are another couple of ideas.

For my daycare kids I buy them each a present that is gender neutral and wrap them up. Before the kid goes home they get to pick a gift from under the tree, so each kid is hoping to be the first to leave... lol..

Some ideas are:
Playdoh
Blocks
Books
Wooden Puzzles
Box of crafts - construction paper, markers, crayons, stickers, glue stick and decorating things
Activity box - has coloring and activity books inside with crayons
A gift card to chuckie cheese just for them

Let me know if you need more ideas and I can check on what I did last year too :)

Wal-mart also has $10 bath kits by crayola. I think those would be great! My kids love them, all of them. They range from almost 2 to 11! They love the color drop in fizzers and the markers. They have several to choose from in the holiday section at our wal-mart. I got one for each of my own kids as a gift this year.

We had to do this for the first time this year to, but the age range is only 3-6. We also had the option to specify a gender so that helps some. But we ended up with a game - Toy Story Yahtzee. it is hard; I think I spent more time thinking about this than I did for some of my family members!

Puzzles :) Some places now carry puzzles for families, with pieces that are larger down to "normal" size puzzles pieces.
