Hi L.,
I have heard that Vitamin K cream helps. The dark circles are from leaky blood vessels under the skin, which is very thin around the eyes. The vitamin K helps to stop the leaking. Good luck!

Hi ladies.
So, I saw the question about the wrinkle eye cream, and I have another question regarding those eyes.
I have really dark circles under my eyes. I have had them since I was young and my mother actually took my to the doctor when I was three to see what was going on. Doctor said that I have bad allergies, which I do!! I still suffer from them.
So, the question! I don't wear a lot of make-up, but would like to know what "syrum" or something that I can put on my eyes to get the dark skin to lighten up? I don't want a concealer that I have to wear with foundation.....that's not my style. I just want a magic potion that gets rid of dark circles!! Ideas!?

Arbonne Nutrimin RE REpair Corrective Eye Cream!! I got dark circles after my first son was born. I've tried 4 or 5 different eye creams andthis is the first thing that has really lightened them. Almost gone. Plus it helps the wrinkles a lot! My kids have the allergy circles as well. I haven't tried it on them so I don't know if it works when the problem is specifically allergies.
It is sold through independent consultants. Rebecca Hedlund is mine. She'll send you a sample of the whole face line, if you are interested. You can reach her at ###-###-####. Give her my name if you call her.

i've had similar experience to Peg altho not for as many years (yet). i've tried lots of things. If your symptoms are lifelong and from allergies, as mine are, your physical skin/eye construction is probably not something a topical treatment will cure. but, if you find something, let me know!
The good thing is that after many years and dollars (i've tried a lot of treatments and concealers- not the preparation H tho! ;) ) i found something that works well and is easy.
I wear Effacernes Undereye Concealer by Lancome (any dept. store makeup counter). i dont wear foundation or much other makeup (allergies and not my style). This and mascara are the two items i wear almost every day.
it meets the following criteria: works/stays put/no allergic reaction/doesn't stink/doesn't have lots of fragrance/easy to apply/looks natural.
you just pat a little on gently, it stays on all day. the circles are a lot less noticeable, it only takes about 30 seconds, and a tube lasts me over a year.
one tip, have a makeup person get the right color for your skin. i went to Nordstroms when i was in a wedding years ago to get makeup. the woman there told me i should wear undereye concealer if i wore nothing else. she picked this product (she didnt even work at the Lancome counter- she had to go to another section). anyway, the color was NOT the color i thought i should wear- it looks like it won't match my skin in the tube. but you need a color that will blend with the purplish color of the circle and match your skin tone. it turns out that it is very effective and you can't tell i'm wearing it once it's on.
one final note- i also use it when i get a pimple- it works pretty well for that too.
good luck!
As a proud, lifelong owner of what a doctor once called "allergic shiners," at 60-something I have never been able to make an enduring difference. It's not the skin that is dark, it is blood vessels in the tissue just under the very thin skin.
But here are some things that make at least some difference, or theoretically have the potential to help: adequate sleep (yeah, right); plenty of vitamin C in the diet (reduces inflammation and capillary fragility); topical applications of horsechestnut extract, vitamins C, K, E; cucumber (rich in vitamin K, and calming); green tea (antiinflammatory and terrific for all of your skin); caffeine; and (reportedly) Preparation H ("shrinks swollen membranes").
If you ask at your local health food store, you might find someone who can recommend a good cream that has these or other botanicals in it. I have splurged a few times over the years on one cream or another, and have been disappointed by the cost/benefit ratio every time. But I do use some of the individual ingredients to some effect.
And, of course, avoiding your allergens as much as possible. An acquaintance swears that she looks better for having put mite-proof covers on her mattress and pillow, but I haven't seen her in person, so I can't swear to this.
I've come to accept that they come along with being of Eastern European descent... Other groups who often have them are Latin American or African American people. If they are b/c of your ethnicity (I'm am mostly Russian-Jewish), no cream is going to help you, though they do show up more if you are tired or dehydrated.
I read something about why this is...something about specific pigment and the skin under the eye. There is a book available on google that somewhat explains it:
http://books.google.com/books?id=CoBny9iftS0C&pg=PA29...
I have no idea if that whole link went there, but there are many, many other sources available online.
Well, off to work--with my dark circles that "sort of" get covered up with BareMinerals make-up :-)

L. - the magic potion you need is a natural skin lightener, something that contains Kojic Acid. I'll do some shameless self promotion here.... Arbonne's Re9 Eye Cream is the answer for you!! You won't believe the difference it can make on lightening dark circles. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product.
Send me your address off post, and I'll pop a sample in the mail to you so you can try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

Hello L.,
I know just the product, however it is a bit spendy, 65.00 for a bottle. The product is called "eye surgery" by osmotics. You can find it at Nordstrom. Also, there is a serum by Dr. Perricone, also available at Nordstrom. I have tried both and they work really well. A bottle lasts me about six months, so the expense is deffinately worth it. I hope this helps.
Kojik acid is a natural skin lightening agent that decreases dark circles as well as decreases the puffiness around the eyes. When you go for a facial and the esthetician uses something to lighten dark spots, it is usually kojik acid. Arbonne has an eye cream that uses kojik acid as its main ingredient. Their products are also hypoallergenic. While many products have that label, you will find that the requirements to place that label are pretty lax. Arbonne does additional testing to ensure the safety of the products before they go to market. If you would like more information, go to my webpage at www.nursekerry.myarbonne.com. Good luck!
It is unsafe to try all the new products that are coming out there especially when you are going to apply in on your eyes. The eyes are delicate. In order for you to definitely end up with the right cream or treatment generally, visit your doctor and seek his / her guidance. Do not attempt to do a number of self-medication. It is dangerous.
I would recommend the Eyelastin because it is clinically proven and completely organic product to work and contains many unique features, including patent Nanoderm Technology.

I agree with the Arbonne eye cream being the best. I've used so many from lower end products to very expensive and the Arbonne is the best I've ever used. I love that I can use my eye cream day and night. With others I've used, the eye cream would mess with my eye makeup as the day wore on and with the Arbonne, I feel it actually helps. It also has reduced my under eye cirles pretty dramatically and I have nearly no fine lines around my eyes anymore.
I have had the same issue since pre teen years. And I found this wonderful eye cream from Aloette, lil' expensive but WORKS! Yu would have to find a sales rep there are tons her locally. Good Luck and if you need the name of one I have one.

Try bare minerals. I have and works great no make up look
You need Japanese skin care!! :)
While we spend all our time (generally speaking, as a nation, in both cases) trying to get tan, the Japanese spend all their time trying to get whiter.
There's a product actually CALLED "White" which is the best I've ever found, but I've yet to find it online...but there are tons and tons of products out there. All the names WE know (nivea, clairol, ponds, etc.) make products for their asian markets, but there are also a lot of asian companies like Shisedo, Kose, etc.
Here's a link, in fact....although it can be a little shocking how transparent advertising companies are...when they're advertising something that goes against our cultural norms, that is.

I use Oil of Olay Total Effects eye cream. It has a hint of concealer, plus a hint of shimmer to reflect the light and it actually works on the puffiness, lines, etc. I never ever get enough sleep, so using this morning and night has helped a lot. I don't use any foundation either and I don't like to use much makeup.
L.,
I have a lot of food allergies. Like you, I have always had dark circles under my eyes. Since I stopped eating the offending foods (one being eggs), the dark circles went away and I have not had them since.
Best of luck.
