Thank you everyone, this has made my research so much easier, I appriciate your time. Due daily beach and pool use / sometimes few times a day pool use and two small kids the wash needs to be done daily:)

I would recommend NOT doing laundry DAILY!! I would set up specific days to do laundry.

As to what I would recommend? I have a Kenmore Elite set. Top loading.

I'm looking at a front loader. I miss mine from Germany - it really did a great job in cleaning clothes!!

Go to http://www.consumerreports.org and do some information/research there.

Have fuN!!!

We have been happy with our Maytag Centennial HE washer. I'm rather meh on the GE gas dryer we got but that wasn't our choice (home appliance warranty picked it out). It does the job, but it's needed repairs more than once for bearings.

I would not get an LG. Not only are they expensive, but not many techs are trained on repairs and if you need parts, they have to be sent from China or Japan and it takes WEEKS and its EXPENSIVE. We learned this the hard way. Good luck.

I have a Maytag Neptune on borrowed time right now. It's over 10 yrs old. Sounds like its going to orbit when it spins!!!

I'm in the market for a new washer and I appreciate your question. Vs been leaning toward the Samsung.

I'll post what I choose. Like I said, I'm on borrowed time and will be buying any day now. My washer works but it sounds like its a jet raring to take off.

We just purchased a top loading Samsung and am really happy with it. I had a Kenmore that bit the dust in less than 10 years. I don't recommend Kenmore!

I just had to replace the other half of my Kenmore set. The washer made it 16 years and the dryer 17 years. I'm not sure which manufacturer made them back then.

I replaced them both with Whirlpools. They are do not have a lot of frills but they do get used almost daily. Time will tell if they go the distance like the first set, although salesman are telling me no...
