I'm wanting to get my oldest a daily devotional book for her 13th Birthday. I want to encourage her to have a good quiet time with God, but I'm not sure which daily devotional book would be good. Has anyone purchased one for their teen that they really liked?

What can I do next?

There are some really great books out there for teens that are Christian daily devotionals. Chicken Soup isn't really a devotional book as much as it is inspirational stories...

Check out some of the books in these links:

http://www.amazon.com/The-One-Year-Devotions-Teens/dp/084...

http://www.mardel.com/books/teen-interest/devotional.aspx

http://books.google.com/books/about/God_s_Little_Devotion...

Also, there is a Lifeway Christain store in Olathe (11941 S Strang Line Rd), I'm sure if you went in & talked to a sales person they would be able to direct you to the type of devotional you are seeking.

Happy Shopping, & I hope she enjoys & grows from the books you find! T.

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul!! It's not really a daily devotional but very inspiring, true stories that teens can relate to.

Our family has been reading the Sticky Situation books for a few years now.

The original book is for teens. Then a subsequent version was released for elementary age kids. I find the majority of the lessons to be very appropriate, they lead to additional conversation about the topic, and my kids have learned how to apply the moral lessons taught in the book to their own lives. That to me is the best outcome, that they actually apply the info.

I like the Chicken Soup for the Soul book idea.

What about having a daily devotional as a family? I know it sure brings our family closer together to gather each morning before they head off to school. We all take turns throughout the week saying the prayer. It is so sweet to hear our kids pray for each other ,to have strength and wisdom to make good choices and do well at school.
