Just curious if any moms out there have dealt with a cyst on their childs face?? I noticed it when it was very small about 3 weeks ago! I took him to my dermo and she suggested I take him to a pediatric dermo at Childrens Hospital! He has an appointment this Monday! I've looked online and looks like it may be a dermoid cyst or Pilomatrixoma. I know they are probably going to have to remove it because it is growing so I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this!

What can I do next?

Hi
I used to get them ALL the time. They started to come out in my 20's and I had to get about 5 of them surgically removed.
I went to a few dr's and dermos and not one of them could tell me what it was. I then found an AK DR. (Applied keinisiology, chiropractor) who speacializes in diet and emotions, hormons. And she told me it was corn!
Corn the veggie, corn syrup, corn startch, maltedextrin ....anything with corn. I had to take it out of my diet. I never had one again until I was pregnant with my daughter. I was craving sprite or 7up all the time. I hadent had any soda in years! And sure enough after about 2 weeks of endulging ....I had a HUGE cyst! Well they couldn't remove it while I was pregnant so they said to just wait till after I had my daughter. My AK DR said to just stop drinking the sodas and it would go away. And well she was right. a few weeks of NO corn it was gone.
I am not sure if its the samething with your son. But she was the only person who could tell me what was going on. she is now the first Dr my family sees for anything that happens...physically and emotionally. If you can find one or would like a referral I would be happy to give you one! :)

I haven't had this with my kids, but I remember my brother had two cysts as a kid (elementary school) and then nothing again until a couple of years ago (around age 40). They were removed easily and without a lot of drama or scarring.

My cousin had a cyst on his face and it was removed pretty easily. If your son has to have his removed with surgery, ask for a plastic surgeon to do it so it doesn't leave a scar.

Good luck!

My son had a dermoid cyst on his head when he was born. It was just above his right ear. At first the doctors thought that it was a lymph node and that it would disappear by the time he turned one, but it didn't. The cyst stayed atop of the scalp which made the surgery an fairly easy surgery. At about 16 months old, he had it removed by a neurosurgeon. The surgery went fine and he's had no problems since (he's almost 6 years old now). Now, he has a small scar in that area, but he has thick hair, so it covers the scar. The thing that you need to be concerned about is it rupturing if you do not have it removed.
