Cup Cake Ideas

I signed up to bake for a bake sale fund raiser. Usually I'm the queen of creative, but after throwing by daughters a birthday party in Aug. and overdoing it, I'm just not into it. There's no theme. Just need them to look appetizing and cute and I'm too lazy to research ideas. Thoughts?

So What Happened?

So loved the apple ones on familyfun.com. But may turn them into cake pops served up in a wooden crate! Will order my stuff on line soon! Plus love the candy coating. Seams I can make it in advance since candy will seal the cake up and keep it moist for a few days! Thanks

Have you thought about cake pops? Bakerella has some really cute ideas, with simple instructions. You don't have to do the really elaborate ones, although they are so fun to make. You can do simple cake pops dipped in the candy, with a drizzle over them. Very popular and so wonderful. Here is her website: http://www.bakerella.com/category/pops-bites/cake-pops/

I made rainbow cupcakes for my daughter's birthday. Used food coloring to make sky-blue frosting, then sour gummy ribbon candy cut in short pieces and shaped into an arch to make a rainbow on top of the cupcake, then some squirts of white icing at the bottom ends of the rainbow for clouds.

You can also Google "rainbow cupcakes" for ideas on how to make the cupcakes themselves rainbow on the inside!

One year I made sports ball cupcakes for my son's Birthday from another Mampedia Mom idea. It was a hit! Wish I still had the photo. Basically, you bake and frost the top like sports balls-chocolate w/white for footballs, Orange w/black for basketballs, white w/red or blue for baseballs and for soccer you could do white w/black or even white and chocolate with the soccer style ball. All the best and have fun!

I do an awesome oreo cookie cupcake.
You need a regular chocolate cake mix (I like devils food), 1 package of double stuft oreo's, and whatever vanilla frosting recipe you like (I dont use can but I don't see why you couldn't).
Make your cake mix and line out your cupcake liners. Take apart 1 cookie per liner. Put the half with the cream in the liner...cream side up. Make sure you save the other halves of the cookies (the part with no cream). Pour your cake mix in the liner, half way. Bake like normal.
Make your frosting (or take it out of the can) and crush up the halves of cookies with no cream and mix it all together.
Let your cupcakes cool and frost. Take the rest of the cookies and cut them in half and garnish. To get extra fancy though I take the rest of the whole cookies and dip them in chocolate and put them on top of the cupcake. You know, for that extra sugar rush. lol.
The cool thing is if you bake them in white liners, when you look at the bottom of the cupcakes you can see the cookie through it and clearly read OREO. =)

Bake, frost, add edible flowers. Pretty.
Bake, frost, add mini gumdrops all over (about 10 on each).
Bake, frost yellow, add 2 choc chips & a black thin licorice rope for smile:
happy faces.
Frost each one a bright color!
Frost red, add Chinese good luck charms.
Make round balls on a stick. They are the "new cupcake craze". Google
the recipe. Would not try making it for bake sale for the first time though
Need to practice.
Hope that helps. Good luck.

You can make cupcakes in ice cream cones. Use the cake cones with the flat bottoms set them in muffins tins so they will stand up and just pour your batter in the cones about 1/2 way full and bake following directions on cake mix. Frost and decorate how ever you like. They are easy to eat because you just hold onto the cone.

Hmm, is it for school? Could you do school colors?

Since it is fall decorate with Candy corn or Gummy Bats, Skulls.. etc..

Maybe Pumpkin muffins with cream cheese icing.

Chocolate cupcakes, with White icing and a spider web design or a black spider ring..

Cute cellophane bags with cookies and and a fun ribbon.

Make "Homemade Trash" - Use cute bags or containers.

Or Homemade Cheese wafers.. Adults love them.

Bake regular cupcakes, and an equal ammount of mini cupcakes. When cooled, peel off the cupcake papers.Take ice cream cones, and pour about 1/4 cup of m&ms in the bottom. put a blob of frosting on the top of the regular size cup cake and TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN, and stick it into the cone, on top of the m&ms. Frost the bottom of the regular cupcake. (which is now the top) Then set the mini cupcake on top and frost the cupcakes to cover completely. Add sprinkles too. It will look like an ice cream cone, but is cupcake, with an m&m surprise inside! I think they might be a bit difficult to transport to the bake sale sight, so if possible, have all the parts ready to go and decorate them there. They are really cute and you can find videos on how to make them on youtube if this didnt make sense.

I was going to suggest the rainbow cupcakes but DVMMOM already did. We made them for St Patricks Day one year. Very simple Just white cake mix, food coloring and cool whip for icing. We saw them in a magazine. They look so awesome when they are cooked. They puff up and then when you open it up you see all the colors.
Good luck!
