yep and I am a crocket pot pro from wayyyy back! love them! I usually cook rgiht before I go to bed on low and then wawaken to the aroma when I get up for my 4AM bathroom break... Then a treat myself to a little pre-taste of heaven!
I'm cooking a recipe with 3# of chicken thighs and some garlic onion and celery with just a few TBLS of broth. It says to cook 8 hours on low. I'm hoping to have it done in 6 hours. Can I cook on high for a certain amount of time and then turn it down?
Thanks!

You can usually cook things on "high" in half the time (so 4 hours), but I would definitely plan on checking it. After the 4 hours you can probably put it on low until you serve it. Some crock pots have a warm setting that you can put it on until you serve it.
Yummy! I'm getting very hungry.
I would think so. My pot has a high and low setting, but it always cooks everything on high anyway, so things are done well before the recipe's hours are up. As long as it's cooked all the way through, it shouldn't matter how you cook it!
my cooker oftern cooks things in shorter time then the recipe says. it is a 6 quart Crock Pot brand. It usually only takes 4 hrs to cook a whole chicken on low.
I think a lot of it depends on your cooker. I have a pretty standard Crock pot that without fail, cooks faster than recipes suggest. I always anticipate my meals taking less time and know that in my worse case scenrio, I can throw it in the oven if necessary. Good luck!
Wait 2 hours then cook on high for 4 hrs.
cook on high with 8 tablespoons of broth for 6 hours, that way you know the chicken is done and not too dry

I've done that before. Cooked on high for 2 hours and then on low for 4.
