Crib Mattress - Chicago, IL

Hi...we bought new mattresses for each of our three kids when they were born. (Two of the cribs were hand-me-downs, but not the mattresses.) I'm a money-saver, but I felt more comfortable with a new matress for them rather than a hand-me-down. Also, crib mattresses really aren't too expensive. I'm sure you can find a relatively good one for a better price than you'd expect! Good luck!

Don't buy used. For what a mattress costs and how long they use it; it's well worth it's price.

I am in the same boat almost. I am buying a crib, as well. I think you should buy it new. The crib is fine, but the matress hold germs and bacteria. Just think, you should not buy one for yourself same secenario. Babies spit, poop and all of that. Buy a new one. you can get a used crib if needed. Walmart has the Serta's and other nice matresses for a reasonable price.

My sister in law recommended the Serta Perfect Sleeper, she has four kids! I bought last summer for my new born and it has been great! I highly recommend. I bought it off of Amazon's web site, although the name was slightly different when I bought it - it was called Serta Perfect Night.

New!!!! I remember reading somewhere about NEVER using a used mattress. You need a firm, new mattress for your baby. Professionals agree that used mattress increase instances of crib death.

You will need a new mattress. Make sure that it fits the crib really well. No space between the mattress and the crib (the baby my get trapped in there). You should also buy a crib mattress cover. That will save you a lot in case the baby makes a mess in the sheets. :-)

I would not buy used... too many reasons to list why you shouldn't. You can find a nice, firm and reasonable mattress at Walmart. We bought ours there (we have twins) for 70 each and then also bought a mattress cover. Good luck and congrats!

NEVER, NEVER USED...........don't know why, I read it somewhere. You can get mattress with a few price ranges at Babies R Us. Good Luck!
