I know he may get caught up in the rails of the crib but it would be so much worse having him get caught up in the bumber and suffercate. I would just keep it out.
My son is 6 months old, he is constantly rolling in his crib hitting everything. It is safe to put the bumper pad back on the crib, he has gotten his little legs and arms stuck in the slats of the crib.
Any suggestions?

If he can move around that much I would put them back in but when you do it make sure that they are down all the way held by the mattress so that he can not get stuck. I always had mine in the crib even when my kids where newborns. I know they say not to but it is so hard.
my grandmother wove a thin blanket or sheet between the slats. and she swears by that because the there is no gap between the rails and the padding. i bought a breathable bumper for my son's crib because i was afraid of him rolling into a regular one and not being able to breath. i found mine at usa baby and i love it.
I put a bumper in my daughter's crib at around 6 months, she started getting her little baby limbs stuck too. I think the risks of re-breathing is far less the stronger they get, as they are strong enough to roll over now if they do end up face down in tbe bumper. We bought a thin bumper from babies-r-us, it was a cheap one, but its perfect and did the job.
Good luck!
My son started doing the same thing at 6 months...I also bought a breathable bumper and love it. I just didn't feel comfortable putting a normal bumper in the crib. Yes babies are stronger as they grow and the risk of SIDS lowers, but I just didn't think it was really worth the chance.
Breathable Bumper - Love it! I got mine at Babies r Us. They have them online too. Made me feel very safe when she was rolling all over the crib - no worries about not being able to breath and the little arms and legs couldn't get caught.
I would put the bumper back in.... When he stops rolling then you can take it out.. My youngest daughter still has to have a rail on her big bed cuz she is restless.. She will be 3.. Good luck. A.
My son did the samething. I put the bumper back in. When I did I put it down farther. I Put it on then put the matress back it so it held the bumper down. it is only about 5 inches above the matress. It stops his feet and arms from getting stuck in the rails, and his big brother from tring to pull his legs out of the slats in the rails. When babies start rolling it is less likely for them to suffocate in the bumper. They start getting the reflex to move when they can't breath. Plus your baby will most likely start standing in the crib with in the next few months and sometimes they will stand on the bumper. if it is tucked down farther it doesn't give them as much hight.
We also have a breathable bumper and love it. Although, my son who is now 15 months has figured out how to get his legs through the slats above the bumper and gets them stuck. I do think he likes to sleep with his legs hanging out, just every once in a while he sticks them out to far. Good luck. I always feel so bad when I go and get him up and he has his leg stuck - and when it's fallen asleep it's the worst because he doesn't understand the horrible tingliness.
Please be sure to use a breathable one. I know many people think their child is "old enough" to have a regular one but it has nothing to do with age or movement abilities. It has to do with where your child falls asleep. If they fall asleep with their face in a regular bumper they can suffocate because they are breathing their own air back in and aren't getting fresh oxygen.

If you look online at target.com they have breathable bumpers and a crib shiel system which is mesh netting that goes over the sides of the crib so the baby can't get stuck and it is breathable too. hope this helps
My son is 6 months also and I find him playing with his bumper pad. As a childcare provider, we are not supposed to have one in there because of the dangers of suffocation, but they are so cute. I saw a Mom replied about a breathable bumper and that sounds like a great idea....it is more to protect them from putting arms and legs out them bumping their heads.
You should absolutely take the crib bumper out. I know they are so cute, but when a child is in a deep sleep, they will not wake up if their head gets under there and they can't breath. I never tried the breathable bumpers, but I have heard people like them. I think safety needs to be your first priority. My son got his legs stuck a lot at first, but quickly learned how to take care of this himself or got big enough that they didn't fit.
i would keep the bumper on b/c you would think that it is safe on then off !!!i would say he will get stuck !
